I was taken to this cafe during a tour, main goal is to make you buy their overpriced coffee in their boutique. The cafe is full of trees and has a lot of corny signs 'protect the nature', meanwhile they trapped 2 Luwak and put them in a cage for tourist exhibition. Great example of a cynical 'sustainable' commerce

The samples of tea and coffee is absolutely amazing and so is the staff and location. It's really an amazing place, but I just can't recommend it, because of the horrific condition of the caged Asian palm civet (the animal involved with making kopi luwak coffee). On entry there is a small cage with the animal inside and there is nothing else - no habitat conditions, shelter, tree to climb, nothing. Just a tiny cage with only the concrete and this poor animal, pacing around. All the photos on Google show the animal having basic habitat conditions, but this is no longer the case. When it rains, it can't hide anywhere. It absolutely broke my heart to see this and I just can't understand why is it necessary at all... Please do better

The caged Luwak is enough to shout "please don't visit this place until they learn about animal welfare & stop caging wild animals in terrible conditions!".
Add to that the fact that the drinks selection was bland & overly sweet.
The staff being friendly & informative is the only positive.

Awesome place - great tasting experience of different coffees, teas and the gift shop is reasonable. Got some essential oils to make my own Tom Ford fragrance.

But please please please release the Luwaks from the cages. There is no need to have caged animals on display. I nearly wrote a 1 star review and changed my mind because everything else is so good.

A picture of the animal in the wild on the wall is absolutely all the tourists need to see.

Be kind please and let them go back to nature.

This was a side tour to our day visiting the Lake Batur area.
We were met by staff at the entry and shown around the grounds.
We saw a lady roasting the beans over a open fire then we were taken to the restaurant.
The staff brought us a selection of 14 different Teas & Coffees to try.
This is Free.
After that we did buy 3 Tea packet @ 150,000Rup each.
So far we have only tried 1 (Lemongrass) and it is perfect.
We had no problems with Australian Customs but DO declare it.

The experience was great but the coffees and teas were over price and FALSE! We opened our coffee at home in the US and it looks like sugar and creamer mixed with a few dark specks of coffee. They said it would make 20 cups but we’d be lucky to get 6. We’ve been tricked!

At first I Believed that this was a lovely place which is true indeed it has lovely coffees and was a great experience but when I saw the caged Luwak it made my heart melt the fact that this animal in a stone floor cage trapped and away from his family was horrible and just for tourists to see. Great place but we need to free the luwak.

We paid 600,000 R (A$60) for a 100 gram packet of Luwak Coffee. It was only after we left the tourist shop that we realized how expensive the merchandise was but reality hit in the airport departure shops where you can buy 150 grams for 400,000 R (A$40). At OKA we also bought 200 grams of Mocha Coffee which cost 150,000 R (A$15) and a block of Orange Chocolate 90,000 (A$9). Our alarms bells should have warned us we were being conned with the chocolate price which was double what we would pay in Australia. Our driver took us to OKA Agriculture Bali as a side experience on our day tour. The thing that is most upsetting was that we were very friendly and nice to the salespeople making sincere suggestions how they can help with marketing their product and all the time we were being set up for an over priced scam. All I can do is warn others so suggest you try their free tastings but beware you will be led to an over-priced shop. And to top it off they had a hefty 3% credit card fee on top.

This was a simple but informative and entertaining introduction to coffee, tea and chocolate production in Bali. Luwak coffee is of course a specialty- and you get to see the production method first hand. The coffee/tea tasting is obviously geared at promoting the purchase of coffee and tea from the gift shop, but it is fun!

The only criticism is that they keep a lone, lonely Luwak caged near the entrance, apparently for the sole benefit of tourists who want to see what one looks like. We won’t be returning until this poor creature is set free and replaced with a model, photos or a video- which would be completely adequate.
