Caldarusani Monastery is one of the oldest and largest Orthodox monasteries in Wallachia. The monastery was built between 1637 and 1638. Today it is surrounded by scaffolding that was placed there several years ago, and it does not appear much remodeling is taking place. You cannot go in the monastery, but you can visit the art museum on the property. Here you can view iconographic pictures and several manuscripts. While we parked outside the main gate, we later found out we could have driven right to the entrance. This is a very peaceful and quiet location, probably why it was built here, without even any internet signal! I wouldn't drive here especially but as we were spending the day in the area we're glad we stopped to visit.
