This castle sits high on a cliff and can be seen from miles around - indeed, it's defensive and observational strengths would have been hugely significant in is time. But it's not actually that difficult to get to - there is a road part way up and a large car park. The walk up is steep, but relatively short. The sheer scale of the castle and the associated village then meets you - it is extensive. The castle walls are everywhere, in various states of repair and restoration. The lower part, where there are ruins of many houses and other village buildings, consists of lots of rooms. When you climb to the top, you see the actual castle, with its loopholes, ramparts, towers, and the keep. While the vast majority of the rubble stone wall ruins are the bedrock limestone, the keep has a few instances of dressed sandstone. In terms of safety, the drops down to the valley below are huge, so be careful! Well worth the visit.

Great for mini hiking day-trip. Wear comfy shoes and bring water to drink. The trail is stiff and you want to be safe specially when it gets slippery.

I felt like a kid again, clambering all over the substantial ruins. There's a lot more to this place than what one sees from afar - well worth the climb!

If you're feeling energetic it's worth climbing to the top. It's not a difficult climb per se, but wear decent trainers as it's a little tricky underfoot if you're a proper townie like me. There's not much to see of the chateau at the top, just a few crumbled walls. The views are pretty good even if the surrounding landscape isn't exactly picturesque.

Both the castle and the views are impressive. You can imagine how people used to live here, with chambers and windows in perfect state of conservation. The entrance is free.

It looks rather like a fortress and although it seems quite well preserved and maintained, when we went up the hill to visit it, we were the only living creatures. Nice if you want to take a picture, but nothing special though.

Absolutely loved visiting these ruins, the site is immaculate, clean and well preserved. The site has good parking with a nice restaurant and information centre. Next to the information centre you have a massive outdoor theatre with a large outdoor seating area. The location is also host to a medieval festival that takes place in June which I've not had the pleasure of attending but have it on my list of things to do.
The walk up to the castle is stunning the castle walk entrance is quite majestic and you can imagine for a brief moment what life was like living at this castle. The views from all locations of the Ruins is breathtaking you cant stop taking photos. A must see on a nice clear day. I would recommend taking a picnic and have a nice day out.

Crussol is a castle on top of an old city ruins. If you climb Crussol you'll be transported to the past, since the ruins are beeing rebuilt.

On top of that you'll exercise while you climb to reach the castle. Once in there please look at the window on the left and prepare your photo camera, since the view is amazing.

Crussol is also c«great for climbing and in July you can go look for some rare flowers only existing there.

Take a look at night as well since the hill now is iluminated in several colors

A fine morning 30 minute walk. Stepping through old Chateau paths and reaching a summit with views of the river in all directions. The old ruins remind one of life long ago. Funny to see the dozens of donkeys enjoying the area as well.
