We had been here before but things change depending on the time of year and the tides so, when we were in the area, we didn't hesitate to visit again. Be warned, if you're not Thai, you will be expected to pay a much higher entrance fee. It doesn't matter if you live in Thailand, have a Thai driving licence etc, the policy of having two prices is inflexible.
The walk doesn't take all that long if, like many people visiting when we were there, you just walk round showing more interest in your mobile phone than nature! Take your time...look up as well as down and keep noise to a minimum. There's a wide variety of bird life and if you are lucky you will catch sight of the local monkeys. Amazing trees, wild orchids, water monitors and other aquatic life abound here.
There is a large car park with toilets(5 baht) and the inevitable food stalls.
Well worth visiting.

We were there in the afternoon time, 3 pm and the water was quite low, but the place was amazingly beautiful. Clear water, lots of fish. Very good "route" to walk, and swimmingplace. Entrancefee 100 baht. Really worth going.

Tha Pom is a mangrove area abut 35km from Krabi Town, not far from Ao Luek. It has a board walk through the mangroves and some jungle, and the mangroves have the most amazing crystal clear water. The water is so clear that you can see to the bottom of the streams. It's a nice place for an hour or 2, or longer. It's not too touristy, but it's very beautiful and unique, definitey worth seeing. You can organise tours to there from Ao Nang or Krabi Town.

There have been a number of changes since we last visited and there is now a large surfaced car park, food shops and toilets( 5 baht entry). As often is the case in Thailand, there is a dual pricing policy so if you are non Thai you will have to pay 50 baht Entrance fee. The walk will take about an hour depending on how many time you stop as the whole area is a superb place for photography. What you will see is partly dependent on the state of the tide as in this mangrove swamp the sea water meets fresh water. It is worth taking time otherwise you will miss so much whether it be watching mud crabs, the fish or seeing the amazing patterns formed by the twisted mangrove tree roots. If you are lucky you might catch sight of monkeys although they will probably see you first!
There are a number of places with seating and also a place for swimming. The boardwalk carries you, mainly over the flooded parts of the mangroves. Unfortunately most of the information boards have fallen into disrepair but despite that, there is much to appreciate.
Tha Pom Klong is very popular with Thai families so it can become quite busy particularly at weekends. I don't think many tourists visit here probably because it's not easy to find but it is certainly worth making the effort to visit.

Get to know this place from hotel manager. Nice place to explore and enjoy the scenery. One of the most beautiful and quiet trails ever been. Best timing to be there is around 11am, where crystal clear freshwater meets with seawater from the mangrove forest.
Nearby there is food stall serves fresh seafood, try snails/escargots and fried prawn. Is best to go with local people, because english may be a problem here.

We visited Tha Pom today. With our own car and a navigation app on the phone we quickly reached the area. Good signs guide you to the exact location.
The entrance area was a bit of a mess but you quickly forget this once you enter the trail. Beautiful thick forest and clear water that colors blue in the sunlight just looks stunning. The entrance is THB 20 for locals and THB 50 for foreigners. Children pay a bit less.
The trail does not take more than one hour to finish so you can combine this with some other trip.
But this place is definitely worth a visit.

If you can find this attraction, then it's well worth are visit. Most hotel/resort staff will know it and whilst it doesn't take more than an hour or so to walk around, there is some excellent , authentic thai food available at a few small "restaurants" near where you park the car. We had a superb meal for around 300 baht for two.
Admission is 50 baht for non Thais and 20 baht for Thais and you basically follow the wooden walkway along and sometimes over the clear water where you can see plenty of fish and crabs etc. There are some wonderful trees and it's always worth looking up as well as down! We were entertained by several monkeys playing around on a long tailed boat near the end of the walkway.
We have been several times and there's always something different to see. It certainly will give you an insight into tropical forests and mangrove swamps.
Well worth visiting.

This was one of two visits we did to a mangrove forest. At this one you can walk and experience the forest and at the other you could canoe. Both worth visiting and being able to swim in the amazing clear water

A wooden walkway through a mangrove wood and along a turquoise river makes this a beautiful spot for an easy shaded stroll. There is even a spot to swim. Fantastic.

is it wheelchair accessible? thanks
Written July 13, 2018
Hello Mantas G,
If you a solo traveller. It might be a problem at the entrance. It is a wild door which is possible to roll the door and open for you. If it is rusty and not possible to roll the door. Then it is still wild enough for wheelchair but it will be about 10 cm. high. The pathways inside is wide enough for wheelchair but no any fence. If you go there during weekend. I am sure many Thai tourist will be around and offer help more than you bargain for.
If you go there with wheelchair person. It is quiet easy with the pathway. Just hold wheelchair at all time since there are no fence.
