It was the nearest tourist spot from the house that we rented for our 4d3n vacation in Tabaco. It was also the place recommended by our host. So, off we all go to check the place. Getting there, was such a challenge because the road was uphill and as you get near to the top, you can feel the chill and the fog was all over that made the place more enchanting. We find the place beautiful and can compare the coldness of it to Baguio City.

We got to visit Mayon Rest House to see the beauty of the volcano much more closer but unfortunately, Mt. Mayon was hiding behind the clouds.😢
It was July 2017 when we visited Mayon Rest House and during this month is rainy season. That's why we really can't see Mayon because it was so shady and cloudy. So it's better to visit this place during the summer because you can really see the beauty of the volcano to the nearest.
However, there are cottages here (free-of-charge) where you can see the entire city of Tabaco. There's also a mini playground where children can play like seesaw and swing. Also a basketball court when you go down further.
But when I went there, I noticed some other part of the place were not maintained properly like the playground (the seesaw and swing are not as good as it is), there are also high grasses that must be cut. And especially the Planetarium wherein this is the first one to be seen by people when they arrive at this place, the roof was already broken(there's a hole on it) and not particularly good if you're going to have a selfie with it. Hoping that it will be given an action immediately from the person responsible to this.
Nevertheless, I enjoyed visiting this place, I had a lot of selfies (even without a picture of the volcano) and looking forward to see this place again! 😃
P.S. Actually it's my first time here in Mayon Rest House and Planetarium

It takes about an hour and a half by car to reach this place, which is located up the slope of Mayon Volcano. The view deck itself is currently under renovation and closed to the public, but, weather permitting, one can still catch a nice view of the volcano's peak. It's as close as one can get to the volcano by car. There are food and drink stalls in the area, a chapel, and an abandoned planetarium. From the top, one is also offered a breath-taking view of Tabaco City below and its surrounding mountains. Visit the place early in the morning for a better chance to see the volcano's peak.

We drove up there as part of an all day tour, it's a little run down and there isnt a great deal there apart from a restaurant, planatarium, and the views. Think it's about as close to the summit as you can get without an ATV

there was a checkpoint at the entrance but nobody’s manning it so we just went through. parking was not free, though.
the skyline viewdeck at the slope of mayon can be accessed through a spiral road in tabaco city. you can catch and appreciate a spectacular view from any vantage point in the viewdeck and still come up with
photogenic scenic angles.
one has to spend a few hours to
maximize your visit. there is a planetarium in the area as well
as a Church undergoing construction.
this should be an item in your bucket list.

You want to see the entire plains and the majestic view of the Mayon Volcano? This is the place to be!!! It’s very peaceful and serene that one gets to feel awestruck and humbled by the beauty of it all... it’s one of the places to visit, best to go during off peak season when the place is not swarming with tourist to appreciate the view and peaceful quietness ...

It was unfortunate that we went to visit the restored "Mayon Resthouse" after the typhoon. The electricity was still down and the effects and damages brought by the typhoon were still very obvious. However, I am pretty sure this will come back to its normal and glorious state in due time. The trees will grow new leaves. I guess the best time to visit the place is summer time where the view of the majestic Mayon and the towns around won't be obstructed by thick clouds and fogs.

Access to the Mayon Skyline park might be difficult but worth it!
I've been to Albay many times but I was able to visit the place just this month. We just decided to have a quick trip after a workshop. It's all worth it!
About 8kms from the main road (Ligao-Tabaco Road) with the road marker "Planetarium". The concrete, widened road is accessible to all types of vehicles. Now being developed with stations of the cross going up the hill.
Sunset view is great in the area. Here, you are literally at the foot of Mount Mayon.
Please don't forget to bring a jacket during the cold season.

If we go there, may i ask if we need to pay for the entrance fee?
Written November 3, 2019
Pretty much zero. But if there is staff, they may ask for a few pesos. Negligible. The bathrooms are 5 pesos. 10 cents US.
Written November 5, 2019
how to get there from Ligao City and from Tabaco City?

Can we eat lunch like picnic in the area?

When is the best time to go there? Early am nonn or sunset
Written June 29, 2017
Personally, i would say that the ideal time to explore the place is early morning if possible. Though, since the place is on a higher ground, it is still cooler even during mid afternoon, but expect to have a lot of people. I still prefer to explore any place during the hour when no crowd is around.
