About
The Distillery Bleu Provence is a family business bought by Christine and Philippe Soguel in 1994. Wanting to support this industrial heritage of Nyons, and enter into modernity, the Company chooses innovation in order to continue the tradition of cultivation and distillation of lavender and aromatic plants in Drôme Provençale. An interpretative centre of 150m² devoted to lavender and aromatic plants, presents landscapes, the botany, the cultivation, the history and the distillation. Our guides will show you it thanks to two guided tours (1h00) and two workshops (2h00), certified Secrets de Terroirs – Drôme Provençale and Tistra. In 2011, a shop about essential oils and well-being opened and a herb bistrot.

Love the lavender & sage candy
Jun 2019
We first came here in 2003 and 2008, when it was a smaller operation. This time they have added a tea room (looks nice) and were much busier. We arrived about the time a bus tour pulled in and had to wait a few minutes in line to pay. Even so, it's worth a stop if you are a lavender lover or are in Nyons for market day.

They distill lavender and other herbs on the premises, which is very interesting, and you can smell and purchase an array of oils from French, English, and other varieties of lavender. This time they also carried perfums, lotions, etc from other makers.

What I went back for and ADORE are their house-made lavender and sage hard bonbon candies. The flavors remind me of a warm summer day in Provence, and they're not too sweet. Wonderful.

If you're into gardening, herbs, etc, it's fun to combine this stop with a walk through the nearby garden of aromas. Also nearby is an olive oil press with a nice gift shop and informational film. You can drive up the hill a ways to see some olive groves.

Together these places, all very close to one another, give you a good sense of the lavender and olive traditions in this region.

Lavender Distillery
Jul 2017 • Friends
What a curiosity. We were drawn in by the scent and the idea of distilling lavender for the essence. The equipment is on site, and if you stay in Nyons during lavender season you cannot miss the aroma of lavender waffling through the streets. Our visit to the store was a bit overwhelming to me, but the other members of our foursome enjoyed the visit. I sought refuge in the attached terrace cafe.

Disappointing Visit
Sep 2016 • Couples
We sought out this place because the prospect of buying directly from the producer was intriguing. Wrong. It looks like many products are made elsewhere and the ones that are made there were just ok. We're sampled several different essences of lavender and were disappointed in the green stem aromas they had. Nothing floral like others we have purchased in France. So we will go elsewhere to find a better quality oil to take back home. Pass.

Interesting location with a lot of information on Lavender

Nice working distillery with a shop and museum.
You can take a guided tour or you can, as we did, take a tour with a tablet on your own pace.
They still distille the lavender on the spot.

Amazing place!
Jun 2016 • Family
The distillery Bleu de Provence is one of my favorite places. First, it smells wonderful. When they are distilling, you can smell it from quite a distance! Second, this is a small producer boutique and they generally sell their products such as lavender buds and their essential oils. Third, they have a new sitting area that sells coffee and ice cream, perfect for hot summer days. However, when I was there during the end of June, it opened at 14:00, so plan around that.
I definitely recommend this small place. It has the perfect gift ideas and souvenirs from Drôme Provençal.

Such divine smells...

Chance to visit a small herb distillery and buy all kinds of essentials oils, with a focus on lavender, but also others (calendula, thyme, etc.). An aromatherapist's delight!
Right on the Promenade de la Digue, right near the center of Nyons.

There were the fragrance comes from!
Sep 2014 • Couples
It is a lovely little place that gives you a real insight into the fragrance industry. What starts with a humble shrub becomes the world most wanted scents. A rummage through the shop leaves you speechless. The abundance of products is both inspiring and invigorating. Reading the lists of ingredients shows that the heavy chemical additives are not necessary at all. When consulting the activity schedule in advance you might find yourself lounging on the sunny terrace while your kids may get involved in soap making.

Interesting and it definately smells good!

Everything about the process of turning lavender into products will be explained during this visit. We also learned a lot about Lavender itself. After the visit there you can visit the shop with lavender products of which some are produced by this company itself. Even though, at first, I was not interested in going to this place at all, I found it really interesting and would definately recommend visiting this place to others.
