We went on a sunny day. Was lovely to walk up. You have a slope for people who do not want to walk the stairs up to the top. Great views.

People must make this trip up to the fort, the views are stunning, the steps up are a little steep, but you can always go the easier way.

I have walked up the down a couple of times and visited the very interesting fort on the sea front. Well worth the steep staircase! Perfect on a sunny day and very interesting to see. Take a picnic!

We climbed the steps to the top (approx 265) and had some amazing views of Weston and Brean and then walked along to the headland where there is an abandoned fort, which was used in the wars. We found out later that there is a...More

Definitely worth the walk up the 200+ steps to the top. Unsuitable for pushchairs. We went on a cloudy day. Was very windy at the top so wrap up warm!

Steep climb up to the top, but well worth the effort! Beautiful scenery overlooking the Bristol Channel in one direction and the Somerset Levels in the other. Walked to the end of the Down to the Fort which is impressive and has a long history!...More

I visited Brean Down yesterday and have always paid for the parking but as we took out membership with the National Trust we parked as normal in our usual car park. This morning we noticed a slip of paper underneath the back wiper asking us to pay the parking in the shop. Now confused as I was under the impression it was free for NT members or did we park in the wrong car park? Is the NT car park the smaller car park on the right or the larger one on the left? Never used the cafes so not sure which is Cove Cafe.

As long as your NT windscreen sticker is displayed, it is free parking for members in both car parks. I left my initial application for membership on my dashboard until I received my card and sticker. If it happens again... More

Yes the car park is free for NT members, and as pointed out previously you need to display the parking sticker. It can get very busy at popular holiday times. It is also possible to pay and park on the beach. We tried the... More
