Smoke well- one of eight famous sceneries in central Shaanxi
Feb 2017 • Family
It was named after the thatched cottage when it was built.
This Buddhist temple was first built about 1600 years ago. The only remaining ancient building was the Hall of Great Mercy which was built in 1766. The others were not very old.
Smoke well is one of the eight famous sceneries in central Shaanxi.
A very quiet place with bamboos and bird chirps. Golden fishes can be seen in the pond.
Not too much antique can be seen during my visit.

Caotang Temple
Oct 2012 • Friends
I once read a novel about Kumarajiva (a great Buddhist monk) and his life story, and know that Caotang Temple is the place where he translated the great Buddhist sutra. So I planned to visit this place. Caotang Temple is located at the foot of north Gui Peak of Hu County, Xian. It is famous for a historical celebrity Kumarajiva who translated Buddhist sutra into Chinese. The temple was said to be built in the East Jin Dynasty. The view arround the temple is also very beatiful.
