This is an amazing tunnel system that provided limestone blocks for the chateaus in the surrounding areas. The tour was taken by a quirky man by the name of Steph who obviously enjoys his job and is very knowledgeable about the tunnels. After the tour we were treated to some local wines, pate and cheese. This tour is a must.

We were in nearby Thésée looking for something else to do as the gallo-Roman ruins were closed. We saw Troglo Degusto on TripAdvisor and decided to take a chance. When we arrived, no one appeared to be around. The sign on the door said that the next tour was at 2:45 pm and it was in French. Since one of our group of three had to leave at 2 pm and the other didn’t speak French, the timing wasn’t going to work. As we were about to leave, a young woman came out of the office and explained about the tours, but she could take us into the caves for a wine tasting. We agreed and were happy we did. She spoke very good English, was very welcoming, and explained about the history of the wines and winery. We chose three wines to taste on her recommendation. Each one was something we enjoyed. We were particularly surprised at the sparkling rosé. All three of us enjoyed it enough to buy a bottle and we really didn’t expect to. As we were finishing the tasting, a gentleman who leads the tours asked us if we wanted to explore the caves for a few minutes. He gave us flashlights and directions and sent us off. It was very cold (so be advised to wear a jacket) but very interesting. Upon our return to the tasting room, he explained more about what we saw and the history of the caves from excavation of stones for chateau building, to mushroom farm, to winery. I highly recommend this winery for the interesting venue, the friendly accommodating people, and the delicious wines.

Forgot to reserve, so turned up just on speculation that we'd be able to join an afternoon tour. Steph was very helpful and full of interesting information about the quarrying tunnels and their historical uses over the centuries. Great wine tasting to finish. Would definitely recommend
