Take bus 151 from Mirabell platz stop and you will arrive here in 30 minutes. The views from the top are breathtaking especially the alps range and Salzburg city. It was a sunny day when we arrive here and panoramic views just made it great. The bus runs every in 1 hour 30 minutes about, so plan accordingly. So if you board the bus at 2:05 pm, you will arrive at gaisberg by 2:45 pm and then you can go back by taking 4:30 pm bus to the city. This is free if you have Salzburg card. So, recommendation is to definitely get one if you are planning to stay for more than 2 days in Salzburg.

We had a Salzburg card and took 151 bus to the top. We had a fantastic view of the Alps then we walked round the top. We saw people hand gliding. We walked down some of the paths enjoying the view. We enjoyed our afternoon tea at Kohlmayr's Gaisbergspitz sitting on the terrace in the sun. This is an easy day out from Salzburg. Highly recommended.

Bus 151. You can use your Salzburg pass to get up here for the fantastic views. Twisty, winding roads to some of the most spectacular views. Many hiking opportunities as well as great food and drink at Wirtschaft am Spitz (no listing in TripAdvisor). I wish we had come up on a clear day - regardless it is well worth the journey. Also, the return bus down only stops once an hour, so plan accordingly.

Is a 20 minute drive from Salzburg but it is worth it on a nice day. We got a great view overlooking Salzburg and the snow capped mountains around.

The views from this mountain are simply amazing! The panoramic view includes the entire city, surrounding snow draped mountains and mile of farms and fields.
We took the more laboursome route of hiking up to the top from the center of Salzburg which took about 2.5 hours (it's signposted at about 3 hours). It is a tough hike, very steep along with some areas still covered by snow so I wouldn't recommend unless you have a reasonable level of fitness.
You experience dense forested slopes, along with clear fields and rough rock formations.
The hike makes you appreciate the views at the top even more!

If hiking is not your thing, there is a bus (#151) that goes to the very top. It cost us 3.70 euro for an adult ticket back to Salzburg and the ride took approximately 30 mins.

We would highly recommend this hike and the panoramic views for everyone, everyone who comes here really should venture up there!
