- Παναγιώτης Δ1 contributionMy visit to Mr. Koutsoyannopoulos’ wine museum was an experience that will forever remain in my memory. The tour began with a return to the history of the island’s winemaking, showcasing ancient tools and techniques used for making wine. The exhibitions were extremely informative and well-maintained, giving a deep understanding of the evolution of winemaking through the centuries. Then we had the opportunity to try a variety of excellent white and red wines, each with its own notes and aromas. The experts of the museum were extremely knowledgeable and willing to share their knowledge, guiding us through each taste and explaining the differences and peculiarities of each wine. The atmosphere of the museum was warm and welcoming, with beautifully decorated spaces that invited visitors to relax and enjoy the experience. Last but not least, this visit was a real pleasure for the senses and an education for the mind. I strongly recommend all wine and history lovers to visit and enjoy this unique experience.Visited August 2024Traveled with friendsWritten September 14, 2024
- Michael TSingapore, Singapore3,189 contributionsMy wife and I visited the Koutsogiannopoulus Wine Museum in December. It was low season then and we were the only group visiting at that time, which gave us lots of space to look at the exhibits at a leisurely pace. The owners took 21 years to build this museum (according to the website). In this 300 metres long cellar turned museum are models, paintings, old photos, machines, equipment, and some of the owners collection of artefacts and documents. We had an hour there but it was not enough to view all the displays. The exhibits were very informative: gave us a glimpse into the wine making process in Santorini and the challenges the owners faced. At the end of the self guided tour was a wine tasting session. We opted for 4 wines. Eri who manned the wine tasting station was very knowledgeable and charming. We had an enjoyable time. We would return if we get a chance to visit Santorini in the future.Visited December 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten January 21, 2025
- Tachesderousseur22 contributionsVery good plan to do in Santorini, the museum is absolutely a gem and the audioguide provides all the info to really understand how special the winery in Santorini really is. After that the tasting is the cherry on the top! Our wine expert Konstantina was super nice and professional, thank you so much for this experience.Visited July 2024Traveled with friendsWritten August 17, 2024
- RandyCatano, Puerto Rico69 contributionsVisited as one of the stops during a group tour so I don’t know the cost for the regular activity. However, the wine tasting was fun and learned a lot about Santorini wines. I think we spent little over an hour here doing the wine testing and the museum. Museum exhibits could use a facelift but underground setting is pretty cool.Visited March 2024Traveled with familyWritten April 2, 2024

- Karine EBordeaux, France12 contributionsA great immersion experience in this underground museum. Many objects and scenes trace the past life of this family of winemakers over several generations. The Audio Guide is provided and available in French. The tour ends with a very nice tasting of 4 wines.Visited August 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten September 1, 2024

Very well organised. The subterranean museum tour takes 40 minutes and is very informative on traditional manual harvesting and pressing methods. A good audio guide takes you round the museum and on to the wine tasting. Bronze tasting costs EURO20 per person. You get a personal guide through 4 wines as well as the audio information. No delays and you will be finished within an hour.

Well organized, friendly and clear. The prices of the wines are much too high for a producer, not to say Asian.
We decided not to try the wines due to the chaotic traffic on the island, which doesn't tolerate alcohol. So: dear bus tourists, grab your glasses.

This is as a great way to spend an afternoon, the family have put a lot of work into making this more than just tasting their incredible wines, and it shows. So interesting to find out the history of wine on Santorini and how the family have cultivated this over the generations. The wine, staff, the whole experience was superb and I love that I have my delicious wine to drink tonight! Yamas! 🥂❤️

Very popular but I found it too commercial. The museum is beautifully designed, with lots of photo opportunities, but I felt it missed the personal touch. They give you an audio guide to walk around the museum and through the wine tasting. For me, at least the wine tasting should have had a human explaining about each wine.

We visited here as part of an island tour. The Wine tasting was well handled and done with fun and humour. What we really enjoyed though was the Wine Museum, unique on the island and apparently rated as in the top 10 in the world. Many of the displays are amateurish made up locally but this does not distract from it as they add to the charm of the place. You really can see that the family are very proud of their history and achievements. Even if you are not a wine connoisseur then I would still recommend that you visit the museum. There is also a shop and of course the opportunity to purchase many of their wines; which they do ship.

What a lovely museum.
So interesting, totally recommend a visit.
It is carefully made, accessible to many visitors since an audible guided is provided in 21 languages! Even the cheapest option of all ( 14 euros ) offers along with the guide a try if 4 different wines at the end.
It is full of human sculptures that represent the stages of making the wine and interesting facts and stories about it.
The wine tasting was such a great experience. Very helpful staff that really knows it’s job and gives you all the things you need to know about the special wines and what you should drink it with.

Thank you for visiting our wine museum and for your constructive comments. We are glad that you enjoyed the visit to the museum. We are happy that your visit was quite educational and managed to travel you from the past to the present day. The ultimate goal of our museum is to travel the visitor back in time, highlighting the lifestyle of a Santorini viticulturist, the wine tradition and history of our family. The museum exhibits are designed to eternally preserve practices and methods of viticulture and enology of the past. By tasting our wines, you try different versions of our indigenous grape varieties. Thank you again for your nice words. We hope that in the near future we will see you again.
Best regards

Went here as part of a wine tour from my hotel, it was nice to see the museum and learn the history. But I did not particularly like the wine tasting. They were skimpy with the pour and I asked twice for a bigger pour of the wine I liked, I even translated it through google translate “please a bigger pour” and she laughed at me and still poured a skimpy pour. The tasting was also slow, it took at least 10 minutes between each pour.

This quaint diorama style museum is set up in a centuries old wine cellar. A slow tour takes about 1h and your wine tasting is included. The wines are unique, local and flavourful. The property is beautiful and away from most tourist centers. Great late morning or early afternoon activity if you are staying a few days on the island.

Great to see the wine museum and learn the history of the wine industry in Santorini before tasting any wines. We then had a wonderful wine tasting with Melissa. Her knowledge not only of local native Santorini wine varietals but of international wine regions particularly in South Australia was fantastic! She went out of her way to make conversation and relate to our group!

We have been here in Santorini 8 times now and are still finding new things to do.
The Wine Museum is a an excellent addition to our long list of experiences!
Many tableaux in the underground museum with the audio guide give a really good insight into how and why the wine industry has grown up, as well the history of the brothers who started the winery.
We only did the basic 4 wine tasting, €14 each, but that was fine for us.
Highly recommended!

For the hour-long package how long is the audio museum tour and wine tastings? And which is first? We will only have 45 minutes to spend there.

My friend needs a knee replacement and is in a brace. About how many stairs need to be climbed to get up and down in the winery to the museum? Is there an elevator?
Thank you

Hi I just booked for my brother in law for June 16 and he will be solo. He has a disability.
The booking form said:
Hotel pickup is offered for this activity, please enter your hotel details.
So I did enter my hotel details then I paid.
When I got my email from Viator a minute later it said Exclusions: hotel pick up and drop off.
I am confused and wonder which is true?
Thank you.
