On top of a hill and overlooking the harbour - also about the only tourist attraction in ardrossan. Rather neglected though with poor signage and poor maintenance. Good views across to the islands and beaches.

Whilst on a visit to the beach with my dog I noticed a castle I had not seen in Ayrshire before. Sitting high on a hill I researched the area and got directions to give it a visit. The remains and history of the place...More

Great ruins set on a hill with amazing views of Arran and beyond. Surrounding ground has a swingpark and picnic tables. Quite a steep walk up and uneven ground around the ruins, wear sensible footwear.

It was most disappointing to visit what used to be a favourite memory. You can no longer get anywhere near the castle !

Been many times as I used to play here as a child. Close access not possible now for safety reasons but the view is excellent and I hope someone will justify renovating the castle as part of a historical and cultural project. The castle has...More

As I used to live in Ashgrove road in Ardrossan many years ago, I have had some Marvelous times at the cannon hill. What a place it is. With its deep dark secrets of local Scots hero’s hiding out there, the devils hoof prints left...More
