This blue water cave at Bahia Highlands (Chapada Diamantina) is indeed a gift of nature! The color of the water varies between dark blue and light green. The question is when to go for a visit. Our visit was totally disturbed by two busses full of noisy and not well behaved tourist crowd, shouting, laying their belongs on top of rocks inside the water. It was hard even to take a picture of the water without photographing them. I recommend you to choose the coldest days of the year when the water will be colder in the 50s and appreciate this natural phenomenon!

This place is absolutely beautiful and very special. The color of the water is unbelievable. The important thing you should notice is that you need to come when the light is going in the cave, which starts around 2pm.

Expensive Attraction, disorganized, difficult to access.
Dark well, that without the sunlight, you don't see much, neither fish, nor blue water.. rs
We waited for an eternity to enter, they forgot our family and left us last, we lost the entrance to another well.

The Gruta Azul is only for contemplation from the distance, and can only be seen in its total beauty during a specific time of the day (from 12h to 14h). It's a nice spot to see if you plan to spend more time in Pratinha overall, but it's not worth a visit if that's your only target. There are other Grutas that are much more amazing.
