A beautiful peaceful haven, with many different plants and birds. A shame the water had blue algae during our visit.

The Road to Loch Eck is on the drive from Dunoon to join the way to Inveraray or to the Rest and be Thankful. The road is usually relatively quiet and snakes its way up the side of the Loch, on the way is the Coylet Inn and the Whistlefield Inn, both recommended eating places. The Loch starts just after Benmore Gardens, a part of the Botanical Gardens of Edinburgh, a place well known for its Rhododendrons and the Giant Redwood trees. The Gardens also have a very nice little restaurant.
Like most of the Glacial Lochs it is very deep and also very cold but small boats regularly sail from the Coylet Inn as it is also close to the caravan park.
Make it a day out with at a meal at one of the places mentioned .
I know the bus runs from Dunoon to the Gardens and think it travels on to Inveraray

Just love this area. Nice walks all round Loch Eck with varying levels of difficulty, Shame the Coylet inn burned down as would be a useful stop.

Can only access one shore and this has a main road all the way. Busy with traffic. The weather can be completely different from that in Dunoon which is a short distance away.

Suggest you approach from Glenbranter if walking the Loch Eck Loop - take in Benmore on the way round and consider stopping at the Whistlefield Inn on the way back.
I can't recall how long the Loop is but it's between 10 and 20 miles albeit of course you don't have to do it all.

We were driving from Dunoon to Oban A815 road and just stopped at Jubliee Point, Lock Eck. The road is alongside the loch for many miles and we stopped to look at the scenery. This is a very peaceful place, a mountain loch surrounded by hills on each side. We called on a overcast day, can can only imagine the views on a sunny day. There are 180 degree views up and down the lake from the point.
There is a car park and then a short trail to follow to the waters edge.
There are picnic tables to enjoy a snack.

Absolutely stunning. Took my breath away! Lots of places to stop by the roadSide and walk down to the beaches.
Advised for dogs not to swim or drink the water due to algae, but our dog still enjoyed the beaches.
The views are spectacular and the road it nice to just cruise along

Gorgeous peaceful Loch. Plenty of places to stop for a rest or picnic or just to stretch your legs. Perhaps when warm enough could have a swim.

From Glasgow would people recommend driving round or taking the ferry from Greenock? Thankyou

It's a scenic drive but is just under 70 miles. Worth checking that the Rest And Be Thankful is open! Infamous for land slips.
The ferry decimates the travel time, but buy tickets in advance for a huge saving. Check Western Ferries for prices and agents. I usualy get mine at Paul.s in Gourock as you pass it by going to the ferry from Glasgow.

Loch Eck is a truly lovely place. jubilee point is a lovely little spot.
Head for Tignabruich and the view is amazing. For one of the best situated pubs in the world (it's a bit of a trek) go towards Otter Ferry and have a drink at the Oyster Catcher,a pub on the beach overlooking Loch Fyne. Inveraray is also a very quaint Scottish village. I adore Argyllshire it's a truly beautiful place. I'm hoping to go this year and can't wait! Enjoy yourself
