We booked an organic wine tour with In to the Caucasus, one stop was Vellino Winery, this was the introduction the the amazing world of Georgian wine. And wow, what an introduction. We were met by the founder Beka Jimsheladze, he is a young wine maker with a vision based on passion. The place is amazing and Beka so hospitable you kind of wanna stay the hole day.
We will for sure come back next time we visit. Not only for the reasons above but out of excitement to this venture grow and spread the word around the world of this amber color goodness.

Great visit meeting Beka, understanding about his passion for wine making, esp. organic methods and visiting his new cellar under construction
We tried his superb Mtsvane (white), a very crisp rose and the mighty Saperavi

Our visit at Vellino winery was a fantastic, round experience.
Starting from the basics: Beka introduced us to the ancient traditional technique of georgian wine making, and to its personal take that includes some degree of innovation. After a nice visit of the beautiful place, we've been treated with homemade food, as if we were friends passing by, and we enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere Beka was able to create.
The delicious food was of course accompained by a tasting of the three wine types produced at Vellino: an Amber wine, a Green wine, and a classic Saperavi. All of them were surprising and excellent, and the Green in particular was totally new to our mouths. Outstanding wine, definitely emerging from the mass of "combat wines" you can find in Kakheti.
So, all in all, it's been a great experience I'd warmly recommend.

We had a fantastic time enjoying lunch and a wine tasting. The food was universally delicious, the wines were fantastic, and our host - the owner - was a great source of information and conversation.

Beka Jimsheladze is the passionate 27 year old founder/winemaker of Vellino Wines. He is delighted to show you around his lovely little estate winery where all wine is produced using the 8000 year old traditional kvevri method, i.e. made in clay vessels buried in the ground.

My partner and I have been to Georgia now twice in three months and one of our must-do’s on the second trip was the visit Vellino Winery again. The winery has the most amazing natural wine and made even better with Bekka, who is the most kind and passionate person you will meet. We have fallen in love with Georgia and with Vellino wines.
Definitely recommend this winery to every person who visits Georgia and you will not be disappointed!
