Didn't know much about Viking life before visiting this museum. Amazing amount of artifacts in the museum and you can walk out to the site. Worth the stop.

A walk back in history
Jul 2019 • Couples
Amazing that this impressive defense wall still stands so clearly in the landscape after 100 years. Humbling to walk the demarcation line and birthplace of a nation.

Historical place of Denmark's "great wall" to the former border of Germany
Jul 2017 • Couples
Guided tours in the area of Danevirke is recommended. The wall was build in several historical periods. I 1864 the wall had a minor role for the danish defence. The fieldwork of 1864 has been maintained through a danish/german cooperation. You will have a good view from the rebuild fort.
Some of the exhibition of the museum describes the history of the wall until the war of 1864. Much of the exhibition shows the everyday life of the danish minority from 1864 until today.

More like Hadrians wall!
Sep 2017 • Couples
We have not visited the Great Wall of China but the scale of this earth work was more akin to Hadrians wall but in brick!
We enjoyed a brief tour of the wall by the museum during a quick stop on our way south from Denmark. The museum exhibits were only in Danish and German so we gave it a miss - the info boards along the way made up for this and so we have given the site a 3 for overall interest.

Walk through history
Jul 2017 • Family
Nice casual walk along "the wall" and subsequent visit to the museum. Inexpensive way to spend the afternoon.

Comparable with the Great Wall in China
Jun 2017 • Business
One of the biggest constructions in Europe at its time. Comparable with the Great Wall in China. Impressing to see the more than 1000-year-old defense wall and how it has developed over the ages.

Impressive monument in the border zone
Jun 2016 • Friends
Visited with a coach tour, which had pre-arranged an excellent guide to give us the story in English, both inside the museum, and along the ramparts. Good insight into living in a border zone, where the Danish and the German identities rub up against each other.

Thorough and detailed history of events leading up to 1864 BUT only if you speak Danish or German. Lovely situation and a very pleasant restaurant next door!

Our visit to Danevirk Museum
Apr 2014 • Couples
The place itself is very interesting in terms of History, but the Museum seems to be under redevelpment as it was closed during "appearant" normal hours. The remains of the wall are quite impressive but, also, were a bit unattended and in need of better signaling
