I’ve walked this area many times & as my partner is also a keen rambler, we decided to venture up in a baking hit day.
Rather than walk up the forest trails, we took the more direct route from Nefyn, which is fine up until the final 100 yards or so. The footpath becomes a bit of a scramble through the heather and bushes, and is fairly steep in places, but good fun as long as you’re careful. My partner is 59 and made it ok although we wore hiking boots.
Once at the top we had a little snack & a drink while we sat amongst the remains of the settlement. I took binoculars and they came in really handy as the views over The Llyn are spectacular.
The walk down is a lot easier as we followed the footpath from the top until we picked up the forest paths, before returning back to Nefyn.

I have wanted to visit this place for 30 years and finally made it! It was magical with a real sense of history mixed with wonder. We got there early so had the place to ourselves. The views were stunning.

Excellent views of Bardsey Island which we had visited on Hempys fishing boat few days before & also Morfa Nefyn, Abedaron, Abersoch, with 8 other lads from Liverpool becareful stick to the tracks we went through the trees & the thick brambles on the way up on the Boduan side & on the way back down me (Gary) was inches away from falling about 50ft feet as the thick brambles suddenly came to a end & I was suddenly standing 3ft away from a clff edge with the tops of the tree's at head height I was so lucky as I was making a path for Ste as he had the video Camera but just a vest on it was all filmed on camera have the dvd to this day of my very lucky escape with death.

The views from the top of this hill of the Lyn peninsula are fantastic, however, its really earned with the walk to top.

A bit of a trek uphill but really interesting site, go up on a clear day for the views and take a flask, great place to sit and just look at the fort and the view, well worth the effort, we had the whole place to ourselves.

While on holiday I decided I had to see what was up there, so decided to cycle up it. There is a great trail up the back, does get quite steep in places. It was a clear day so the views were amazing and seeing the old stone huts of the settlement was an unexpected bonus. It was a lot faster coming down!

On a sunny day this was a sight to behold- the fort is basically just a site but you can imagine how it used to be and then go off on some wonderful hikes. Can't wait to go back!
