We went out of Solva Harbour and around the islands and coast for a couple of hours... Our Skipper gave the most wonderful commentary and descriptions of the area. We can't wait to visit this part of Wales again and take another boat trip.. truly 5* event...

We had a lovely time on Piers’ motor boat. He fitted us out with a life jacket each, making sure they fitted us properly, especially my granddaughter who is only 3! Then he took us around the local coast at Solva on an hour long trip with our 3 quiet dogs. (Barking dogs not allowed, quite rightly as they’ll scare the birds, of which there are thousands). It was 3pm and the sun was out and it was a glorious day. Piers has excellent local knowledge of the coast and islands and told us as much as we wanted to know. Highly recommended.

This was just a short trip just out of Solva harbour because of the rough seas but Piers was an excellent skipper and got us close to the cliffs and bays. We will definitely be coming back to Piers but next time on the sailing yacht we think,as it was very enjoyable. If you want a more personal trip this is for you

Rather than take the normal tour boar trips we thought we would try renting our own boat for the afternoon with a skipper. It was a very good move. Firstly I was going to hire the boat for 5 hours but Piers, the owner suggested 3 hours would be better as we had one three year old in the party of five and from his experience that was enough for this age child. This reduced his income but was very good advice. We met him on the quayside and after issuing us with life jackets we were off in a little dingy and then climbing aboard his yacht which is fairly old but has everything you need and is in good order. In no time the sails were up and we were cruising along at 6mph. Unfortunately for us we had picked the only wet day in July but it was still an enjoyable and interesting way to spend the afternoon. In particular Piers has a very good way of explaining how the boat works and teaching us the rudiments of sailing. At only £110 for the whole boat for a three hour trip it was a bargain, I would highly recommend booking with him rather that the "pile them high" tourist boats based in St Davids.

We only had a short time in Solva and really recommend this as you see the coast and wildlife in a totally different way than can be done on land. It was a grey but calm day when we went and we got to see seals, nesting birds, channels and caves which were astounding. Piers our guide was amazing and able to drive us right up to things due to the calm seas. Unbelievable experience! So glad we did it as at first I thought we could only sail with this company which we didn't have time for. Solva is beautiful and this boat cruise is a must do in my estimation!!
