Exuma water sports

We are fortunate to be on a Crystal Cruise through the Bahamas and one of the ports of call is to Great Exuma - home of the swimming pigs!

We arrived to a warm welcome at Exuma Water Sports. They even had a little shop where we purchased some sunscreen, a shirt and hat for the day.

There were about 50 of us. One double decker boat held 30+ and a smaller boat held another 20 (ish). We were on the smaller boat. MJ was our Captain and Ty was the First Mate. They were AWESOME and made us feel safe and welcome … plus they were informative and FUN! Let me tell you, MJ’s boat can move and it was a blast just being on the water!

In route to see the swimming pigs, via boat, they showed us around the area and told stories. Breathtakingly BEAUTIFUL scenery everywhere you look!

We pulled up to one of the smaller islands, dropped anchor … and all of a sudden … out from the bushes a drove of pigs come running toward our boat! They run into the water and swim out to greet us! What a sight to see!

They provided carrots to feed the pigs. The oldest and biggest is named Squeally. He enjoyed many carrots and photos with people. There were pigs of all sizes in the water with us. What a sight to see and a great photo opp!

There were also some stingrays in the water. They would swim all around us and the pigs. MJ was feeding them raw chicken hotdogs … who knew!

I’d guess we spent an hour plus with the pigs. We had plenty of time to enjoy the sights and sounds of this wild experience.

We got back in the boat and headed to another tiny island for some beach and floating time. Some of the bluest water I’ve ever seen! We floated and enjoyed the others in our group. MJ then turned on some tunes and we all sang along and danced. Followed by fun ride back to the starting point.

Our entire excursion was about 5 hours (including travel time) and it could not been better! This was a once in a lifetime experience and one of the most fun ever!!!

We HIGHLY recommend Exuma Water Sports! As a matter of fact, it was so much fun, we’re going back next week!

I don’t post many reviews but am compelled to compliment Justin and the Exuma Water Sports full day boat tour. This is an exceptionally run operation and quickly became one of the best days of my life with my wife. The boat was world class, the thoughtfulness of the team was incredible, and ultimately Justin is the best guide you could possibly find. We saw pigs, swam with sharks, snorkeled thunderball grotto, spent time in pipe creek (the most beautiful place I have ever seen), saw a sunken plane, stopped on sand bars and beaches, ate lunch at Staniel Cay Yacht Club, and saw countless other cays and private islands. I’m also in the service industry and it was an absolute honor to watch someone like Justin, who I’m sure works very hard and guides countless boat tours with customers, bring a genuinely positive and engaging attitude to his job and to our vacation. I honestly left motivated to be better at what I do and to treat people the way Justin and the Exuma Water Sports team treated us. The scenery, the water, the stops, the experience, the team-I guarantee you won’t find a better tour anywhere and this is worth every penny and more. This was easily the highlight of our entire trip. I would recommend any tours with Exuma Water Sports but I would highly recommend the full day tour to see everything. I would also recommend booking a second tour with them during your stay. Two days would have been even better!

Exuma Water Sports were so terrific. The boat was great, the captains were great, the itinerary was great. They completely accommodated our needs and our group. They did everything within their power to make it the most wonderful time and I highly highly highly recommend them.

We went on the half day excursion yesterday where we saw the pigs, the iguanas, a blue hole, stopped at an island, and saw different islands owned by people. Our excursion crew consisted of Tamaz and Shawn (or Shaun I’m not sure) and the captain which I think was called Val. The crew was super nice to everyone on board and was always in a good mood and making jokes. The boat (it had 2 floors and was called the spirit of exuma) was also very clean when we got on and we weren’t too many people so there were still many available seats. The boat ride was very nice and not bumpy at all. Our first stop was the pig island and Tamaz showed us how to properly feed the pigs as well as how to act around them in order to not get hurt. He gave everyone many carrots to feed the pigs and also taught us how to hold the small ones. We also got very lucky and saw a big sting ray and Tamaz picked it up and went around letting people pet it. He also gave us the chance to hold the sting ray ourselves which was very nice. We then stopped at the blue hole and they explained a bit about it and also put out a rope connecting to the boat for us to hold on to if we got pulled away by the current. Next we stopped at this beautiful island to chill at the beach and also explore if we wanted to. Shawn (or Shaun) and Tamaz put on music which made everything very nice. Also, while we were on the boat, Tamaz made sure to pass around beverages and also him and the capitals made sure to talk to everyone individually and get to know everyone. He’s a very genuinely nice guy and made sure everyone was comfortable and well accommodated throughout the ride. When we stopped next to islands owned by people the crew explained the backstory of the islands as well as future plans the owners have for them which was a nice touch. At the iguana island Tamaz gave us grapes to hand out and taught us how to feed them without getting bit. He also taught us how to hold the iguanas if we wanted to and helped people hold them without getting scratched. In general, the crew at Exuma water sports is very very nice and makes sure you have the best experience and personally I adored how much they helped us see in just a few hours and how they made sure we had the best time possible. I definitely recommend!

Wow! Exuma Water Sports went above and beyond for our recent half day group tour. We have done two private tours on previous trips to Exuma (with other companies), but due to our large group of 14 it was getting complicated, and expensive, to do a private tour. After reading reviews we decided to try the group tour with EWS. It was amazing and we would definitely do it again! The communication before the tour was wonderful. I had several questions and they were answered promptly. Once we were at the dock for our tour everything was so easy and we were on the boat in no time. It holds 40 so we were worried it would feel crowded or be stressful. It absolutely did not feel like that at all. The crew, lead by Tahj, was amazing! They were fun, knowledgeable, and made us feel welcome. They wanted us to have the best time and it showed. The stops we made (pigs/stingrays, snorkeling a blue hole and reef, iguanas, blow hole/quiet spot with beautiful water) were all great. The crew was in the water with us guiding everyone on how to feed or interact with the animals. We spent enough time at each spot so we didn’t feel rushed and got to really enjoy each activity. This tour was a highlight of our trip. Thank you to Exuma Water Sports for the wonderful memories!!! If you are thinking about doing the half day group tour do it!

The half day excursion was amazing! Although it was only a 4 hour tour, it felt like a full day of events. The sights were spectacular, the guides very knowledgeable and engaging, and the captain even changed snorkeling plans at a blue hole due to semi-rough seas and took us to a different beach, so I felt extremely safe! It’s evident that they put tourists’ safety and enjoyment first. It is well worth the price, and I would highly recommend Exuma Watersports!

The boat tour to visit the pigs and rock iguanas was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience! It had been on my informal bucket list, and was my reason for going to The Bahamas, and the experience did not disappoint in the slightest! Everyone working for Exuma Water Sports was so helpful and patient and really made for a terrific tour experience.

A note for those who may be going on this trip as booked through Sandals Resort: They send a photographer with you, but the photographs are shockingly expensive. Bring your camera with you in a ziplock or waterproof bag so you can snap your own.

The trip was obviously great but it’s cheating because you have some of the most beautiful waters in the world. My concern is with the price. I can rent a 32 foot boat for myself in Cartagena, Colombia for $600 USD for the whole day. So you can imagine paying $800 per couple was a real kick in the nuts, especially since we were 3 couples on the boat and there was about another 10 people onboard with us. A bit too expensive for an underdeveloped third world island.

The company forgot to arrange transport for us, even though we'd requested it and had it confirmed. These things happen and I could have forgiven it if the situation had been handled properly, but the way we were treated was an absolute joke. We had to drive almost an hour up the coast, which held our tour up by half an hour. We later learned that they'd told all other passengers on the boat that we'd gotten lost and that's why they'd had to wait. To make this lie realistic they even sent a car to meet us 2 minutes from the place. When I suggested they could at least reimburse us for the gas they acted like I was the one being unreasonable. We later on were told this all could have been avoided if we'd just responded to the email they'd sent us the night before. Uhm, what email? I checked my inbox and spam and there's nothing there.

The guides were great for the most part but it was incredibly disappointing to see them holding the baby pigs, despite there being signs saying not to.

Hi Amy, It is correct that we missed your pickup that morning. When you called us to say that you were waiting on a pickup, I attempted to contact one of our several drivers that were doing other pickups that day, but all of them had already passed your pickup location by about 20 minutes. Unfortunately, the pickup location that you had selected wasn't where you were staying, so we weren't able to get a taxi on standby. I'd even called the airport to try! Rather than ask you to move to another day, you did mention that you had a vehicle, so I suggested that I could send you directions to drive out to our dock. At that moment in time, I believed this would be the best decision. I really had no idea that the pickup location you'd selected would be a 15 minute walk from where you were staying and that this would cause a further delay. As I mentioned to you that day, in the limited time we had when we saw one another (We did want to get you out on the tour quickly so that you didn't miss anything - I even skipped your check in/payment), We very recently changed reservation systems and unfortunately your pickup location was somehow dropped during the system swap over. As you weren't here to see, we had over 90 guests on tours that morning, and so I had passed a message down to the dock that we were waiting on guests for that particular vessel. Guests get lost often, (like, nearly every day) so it wasn't intentional that you were "blamed", it was just an assumption/joke that one of the crew made, because that's the most common reason for delays. I'm sorry if this caused embarrassment somehow, it wasn't an intentional lie as you've stated. Yes, we did send someone down the street to help you find your way to the dock at the very last 2 turns, because that's where google maps usually sends people off in the wrong direction. We didn't want to waste anymore time for you, or for the guests on board and were trying to be helpful. As you pulled up I walked over to you to greet you and to let you know where the bathrooms/boat were and that we'd skip the check in, but you hadn't even stepped out of the vehicle before you demanded a refund from me, and quite frankly, I was taken aback. It was the rudest I'd been spoken to in over 2.5 years, and I wasn't prepared for it, so I did stutter and say I'd have to calculate it out. Then you demanded for us to at least comp gas, but n that moment, I just wanted to get you on the boat to start to enjoy your day so I said I'd see what I could do while you were out on the tour. When the tour came back came in, my husband made sure to check in on you, but you didn't want to engage with us. He said you didn't respond to him if you'd enjoyed your day, and when he tried to follow up to see if you'd received any of the transfer emails we issue, so that we could do a thorough internal follow up on our end, you resisted any interaction. I did extend a discount to you, which was refunded back to your card, and I emailed you the very day of the tour to apologize for the mix-up again. Overall, I think this review is unfair.

We did the full day tour with exuma watersports and it was a fantastic day. Well worth the money. MJ was our captain with Sean as 1st mate. They were both very friendly, helpful and helped us take many great family pics.
MJ was very professional and took safety seriously - when we got to the thunderball grotto he noticed a strong current so decided to wait. We came back later and had a great experience.

The boat was spacious, smooth and very fast. Had plenty of shade and comfortable seating.

Lunch was excellent at Staniel cay. They got conch fritters & grouper fingers for the table then we could pick 1 entree from the entire lunch menu. Very good food

Overall Exuma watersports was a well run operation with great staff & boats. Do not hesitate to book with them. Its a must do trip in Exuma!
