This is the most beautiful island in the Bahamas. If you would like to visited go by a private boat or from Nassau flight to Staniel Cay then someone from Compass will come and pick you up. The island have few cabins. You have to bring your own food, drinks. This is a Romantic Retreat. They rent boats so can visit the other islands around. So, If you would like to surprise somebody that you really love go to Compass Cay❤

Everyone knows that Compass Cay is a PRIVATE island, and there are paying guest that pay a rental fee to have their own PRIVATE island. I have been staying on Compass for many years and the landing fee is nothing new. If you don't want to pay a landing fee then visit another cay. Or better yet reserve dockage or a villa and enjoy Compass for an extended stay. It has one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Tucker WELCOMES everyone but business is business.

I really loved swimming around with all the friendly nurse sharks. It costs $10 per person, but I thought it was worth it. I swam with the sharks at Staniel Cay Yacht Club, as well, but there aren't as many at the yacht club. My husband and I got there around 11:15 and we were the only ones in the water with them, which was great. However, closer to noon a lot of tour groups started coming in and it got very crowded. We got out of the water and started to people watch, which was just as fun.
The sharks seem pretty friendly. They just swim around or lay there until someone feeds them, then they start begging for food. Some even try and get up on the docks in hopes of food. Very cute. Just remember, they are sharks, so don't put your hands close to their mouths. Pet them on the back.

Been going to Compass since the early 1990s and never had such a bad experience. The owner Tucker has always been “accommodating “ but not very freiendly. But I guess he thinks that the nurse sharks are exclusive to just that marina so se had over charge his guests?I have paid $20 landing fee for years but now Mr Tucker wants $2.00 a foot PLUS $10.00 per person which is excessive when you are on a 40ft boat with 10 guests! That’s $180 for a 1 hr swim that we can do in the Staniels Marina at anytime of the day for free! What’s worse is when I went up to greet Mr Tucker for the July 4th holiday he pretended like he never saw me in his life. I politely asked to charge one fee or the other as we were 4 boats with a total of 28 guest on board that all buy the shirts and your burgers. But guess what? Compass you priced yourself out of any more of our visits. Enjoy the Exumas and skip Compass Cay go to Staniels Marina instead.

We took our dinghy all the way from Staniel Cay to Compass Cay., having a great time seeing Pipe Cay along the way.
When we arrived at Compass, we asked about lunch or drinks. The crusty guy at the marina said no food would be served anytime soon. Maybe at 2 but probably not. He further said it would be $10 per person to come onto the island, which was fine. We then asked about trails, etc, then asked about our chocolate lab, and he said no pets. No problem. We understood and realized there was no point in staying.
I then hopped on the dock to buy a T shirt and he said it was $10 to walk 5’ into the small shop. I politely told him I was not going to pay $10 for the right to spend money in his shop. He said he was tired of folks with bad attitudes coming to the marina. I told him I had a great attitude before I stopped there. He was really an unpleasant guy and we will never be back

Beware!!!
“Swim with our Pet Sharks” is misleading!!
I ended up spending my leisure weekend in an emergency room due a dilacerated right hand caused by a “Pet” encounter, and a bill of $855.26 funded by myself.
Compass Cay Marina was kind and generous to pay only for paper towel, and as a final courtesy they asked me to leave the office to prevent the floor getting dirty because my hand was bleeding.
Again, beware!!

Swimming with sharks is such a cool experience. They range from 3 to 7 feet and you can touch and actually ride them by holding their tail. Your boat lands at the dock they charge $10 per per person and lead you to a dock where there are a bunch of sharks. They are constantly throwing food in the water to keep them close. You can pet the sharks with out getting in the water but snorkeling with them is the coolest experience. They tell you the only thing you should not do is put your hands near their mouth DUH! No signed waivers or anything. maybe you are starting to see where I am going with this. Well 7 of us were having a great time until my 17 year old daughter caught the attention of one large shark who decided to see how her hand would taste. I guess not good because he did not keep it but the damage was done. She almost lost a pinkie and scared up her hand pretty bad. Worse was she was bleeding bad and all the dock had was paper towels and a band aid. Not good. She will be OK and will have a good tale to tell and the clinic on the outer Island and hospital in Georgetown were fantastic. Just a word of warning it really is a cool experience but they are not pets and have teeth and are predictors so swim at your own risk. Funny side note when you tell a local what happened they look at you funny and ask why in the world would you want to swim with a shark. We are just dumb tourist I guess.

Experience of a lifetime.. these sharks are as tame as they say. Just be aware that they do bump into you while you’re stood in shallow water so it’s not for the faint hearted. But an experience you have to try!!!! I loved it

Great stop over on the way to Staniel.
Unbelievably beautiful waters, great experience swimming with nurse sharks, and friendly dock crews. Definitely a great cruising stop.

One of my favorite places to visit in the Exumas! You can guarantee everyone in your travel group will enjoy this destination. Compass Cay Marina's crystal clear waters are chock full of colossal Bonefish, tons of snapper and posse of varying sized Nurse Sharks - Bring your mask and snorkel to explore these creatures up close and personal as the marina staff helps rally the sharks for an exhilarating swim with the sharks making for some unforgettable memories - be sure to bring your underwater camera and/or go pro here! Also, I recommend packing a good lunch as the "famed" Tucker Burger is not always available! I have visited three times and have yet to be able to try one!
After a dip with the sharks, grab a book or your journal and take the path to the beach! This is the most beautiful breathtaking beach I have seen in the Exumas! Have a picnic lunch, swim, play in the soft pink sand, collect shells or take a stroll along the coast line!

Are the sharks free to come and go as they please or are they trapped in some kind of enclosure or corralled somehow, unable to leave?
Written October 3, 2017
they are free on the water. For you to enjoy them on the water you have to pay $10 per person

Is Compass Cay still within the Bahama Port?
Written July 12, 2017
Not really sure what your asking. It is located in the Exuma keys 60 miles away from Greater Exuma. It has facilities for large yachts. it is close to Stanley Key that has a pretty decent yacht club
