There was an amazing gentlemen named Ashton who cares for the scooters. He helped us get accustomed to his scooters, and marked out all kinds of great stuff for us to visit on our map of the Grand Bahama Island. Scooters gave us the freedom to go wherever we wanted. We took our scooters to the Lucayan National Park and had an amazing time. I highly recommend scooter rental from this guy. Be careful driving on the left side tourists!

We appreciate your posting especially about our staff! We are sure to let Ashton know. Thanks for your input, its very important to STAY LEFT when driving in the Bahamas, we are part of the British Commonwealth. Cant wait to see you back here!

We should rename this the "Booze Cruise" because we had so many Bahama Mamas. Very nice ride through the channel and then out to the ocean. Lite snacks and lots of drinks along with some music and dancing. Fun times!

We took the Jet Ski "tour". The jet ski ride was fine except the guide literally told us keep up as I'm not waiting for anyone. Very little info about the places we saw and no opportunity to see all the wildlife mentioned on the flyer. The "guide" did point out a couple sea stars on one stop. When our concierge contacted them about it, they did offer us 30 minutes of use but we had to leave the next day so couldn't use it (and wouldn't have known where to go if we had). Definitely not worth the money.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Taino Beach Resort and Clubs; a Lucaya Watersports representative is located in the lobby. Lucaya Watersports is also located at Port Lucaya Marketplace. I cannot stay anything good about this company or the representative. Once guests check-in at Taino Beach Resort, they are sent to the Lucaya Watersports rep. A 10% discount is offered on most activities booked the first day of a guest's stay. Frankly, one can get a better deal booking the same activities with other more reputable companies online several weeks or even days prior to arrival. We booked three activities. We probably would not have booked the bonfire if we knew what to expect. The bulk of the time guests are in the pavilion by the beach engaged group games and dances. Half way through the night, a buffet dinner is served, which was fine. After the buffet, a bonfire is lit on the beach, but the entire group is directed back into the pavilion for more games, which seemed odd to us. The actual bonfire seemed like an afterthought. The guests that actually participated in the activities seemed to sincerely enjoy themselves; it just wasn’t for us. We also booked the island tour because we wanted to see the island but were not comfortable driving on the “wrong” side of the road. The bus driver arrived 45 minutes late with an already overfull bus. He tried to squeeze us all on. We declined as we didn’t want to sit on an overcrowded bus for 4 ½ hours. We thought about trying another day but only had one more day available, and we were not willing to risk it with this company. We got a refund with no problem. After those two experiences, we tried to get a refund for the wine and cheese cruise. The first time was when we got our refund for the island tour. We were told to come back the day of the cruise. The morning of the cruise we tried again and were told that tours are nonrefundable unless the company cancels due to weather. That evening we rushed out of the pool to get to the cruise. We arrived at the Welcome Center ten minutes before the cruise was to begin. We double checked where the group was to meet and were told the cruise was canceled due to weather and low numbers. We received no apology or explanation as to why we were not contacted or when this decision was made. We were told to come back the following morning to get our refund; we came back in the morning before we were going to catch the water ferry to Port Lucaya, and the Lucaya Watersports representative couldn’t find the paperwork so we had to come again that afternoon. We did finally receive a refund. I strongly suggest that guests to the hotel seek out tour companies that are more reputable. I suggest Pat and Diane's - friendly staff and crew and a great tour. If you are a cruise guest and want to get to the beach, use the Port Lucaya Water Ferry located in the marina by Sabor.

We took the cave tour, which was great, and our driver was really entertaining. I felt bad for him having to sit for an hour on the beach in the hot sun in his long pants waiting for us all to finish. He was very informed on the flora and fauna and history of the Island, which I guess he should be since he was a native. We also did the Beach Bonfire at Taino Beach Resort, which was good. It was normal BBQ food, no seafood. It was fun too. All you can drink cocktails and all you can eat BBQ for $45 per person. But the sunset cruise was definitely not worth it!!!
The sunset tour is on a Wednesday, which the Fish Fry is also on that day. It's like a huge party down there. So when our tour was supposed to board, no one was around. We waited 15 minutes and someone finally pulled up in a van with a tray of cheese and the wings and said the crew had been down at the beach all day on were on their way. We got off to sea 30 minutes later than scheduled. I almost thought we would miss the sunset. The "wine" was Carlo Rossi. The cheapest of the cheap wines. Its the one in the big glass jugs at the grocery store for $9. They only served Bahama Mamas, as did everywhere else. The cheese was just regular cheddar cheese with regular crackers. That put a huge damper on the trip.
What added insult to injury was cruise itself. You go in the canal system which is a lot of dead ends. The boat goes up on branch to look at the wealthy's homes, which feels very odd, almost like you're on one of those Homes of the Stars tours in Hollywood, only these are famous people you're spying on, they are just normal people. The boat goes to the end, then turns around and goes down another branch and does the same. You are on the actual Ocean maybe a total of 7 minutes the whole ride. They also tell you you will see dolphins. What they mean is that drive by the Dolphin Experience location which is all fenced in and it was just really sad to see. I saw one dolphin fin and one very sad looking dolphin popped up out of the water for a second, but he was moving very slowly. I had to question the ethics of both the Dolphin Experience for their treatment of animals and of Lucaya Watersports for advertising dolphins were on the tour. And the topping on the cake was the music. I kid you not it was a kid's cd of nursery rhymes with a Island vibe. I am not kidding, "Mary Had a Little Lamb" was one of the songs. But no one else on the cruise even seemed to notice. They all were already 3 sheets to wind before we got on board. We actual like and appreciate wine and cheese and sunsets, so I was extremely disappointed in this. When they had started so late we were debating on whether to just leave and not go on the boat, but since we had already paid, we stayed. Now I really wish we had just gone to the Fish Fry. But as luck would have it, they accidentally only charged us for one ticket not two. That makes the experience a little better, but I wish I could wipe this from my memory of our vacation.

Don't do a tour with these guys. No show, no call regarding all yours being cancelled because of the weather (mind you it was beautiful out). Happily took our money and was a struggle to get a refund. A refund due to their lazy business practices. They need to get an understanding of what a tourist based economy is all about. Yes, you do have to kiss our butts!

Donovan was our guide for the 90 minute tour. it was one of the best things we have done & we've been coming here since 2004. The tour takes you to Sanctuary Bay to see where the Dolphins live and where you go to do the Dolphin Experience. Then they show you around Millionaires Way and all the houses in the back canals. The next stop is to see the Atlantic Starfish, then off to Peterson's Cay. After that, it is a fun ride back to Taino Beach.
I would recommend this tour and we will be doing it again the next time we head to the Bahamas

We stayed at the Grand Lucayan from Monday - Friday. If you walk to the market place they are the tan hut next to the tourism office across from the Grand Lucayan. It reads "discount" in the window.
Do not go on ANY timeshare presentations with them. They have horrible customer service. We has a terrible time at the Taino Beach Resort time share presentation (see Taino beach review). We were promised a free scooter for two days and when we went to pick it up they told us we did not finish the presentation. This was not true as I signed something when we left and we got our deposit back. We are argued a little bit with them but it was not worth it. They are not true to Thier word, the guys name is Arnold and he is missing teeth. He will try to be real nice to get you to go. We were also served moldy bread at the Taino beach lunch.
My advice is to steer clear of the hut even if it chanes names which it will most likely do after this horrible review. Just steer clear and spread the word- I know I will be.

We arrived In Freeport Bahama On A Carnival Cruise Ship. We had 13 In our party with young kids and teenagers. All we wanted to do was get a ride to the beach. We were approached by 2 men asking what we were looking for. They stated they were from Lacaya Watersports and could get us a ride to a beach with everything included.......water sports, chairs, swimming pools. All part of a resort that we could use. They charged us $240.OO and crammed us into a regu;ar taxi that they called.....not a Lucaya van that we saw there. We were taken to their building at Lucaya Market and told we could sign up for water sports equiptment for a fee. They then told us we had to walk down the street to the beach. When we got to the beach, the only thing that was included in that ridiculous fee we were charged was the beach. The pools weren't even open. So basically they charged us $240 dollars for a taxi ride. When we got back to the port, the booth was mysteriously closed and no sign of the men who had signed us up. Hmmmm. We had to get back on the ship so we had no time to try to get our money back if we could have found someone which we did not. Overall I believe this company preys on and scams unsuspecting vactioners who are in a hurry and don't have time to realize what is happening to them. Do not give this company any of your business or your money and spread the word.

Did you go to this attraction after docking from a cruise? I am a first time cruiser and Freeport is one of our stops.
Written July 13, 2015
Yes we visited this booth near the marketplace after we docked from our cruise in the Grand Bahama Island. You could pay for the scooter rental outright, which I believe is between $50-60 a day, or my wife and I had time to spend so they have an offer where you can listen to their sales pitch about the Taino Beach Resort, and you get a free day scooter rental. Under the contract you can leave after 1 hour of sales pitch, but with the transportation and paperwork expect it to take longer (and if you buy a timeshare you shouldn't be in a rush anyway haha). I think it took almost two hours but it was pleasant enough. We were very happy about the free scooter rental, and it was worth our time. From the heart of the marketplace, this Lucaya Watersports booth was northeast, towards the big "Grand Lucayan" and "Memories" hotels.

We will be in Freeport in a couple weeks and are interested in some water sports. Where can I go to see all that you have to offer and the details around the different adventures...such as the banana boat, jet skiing and anything else available? Thx, Monica
