I love the way the square is set up the brickwork, the stage, the whole layout are fantastic. Friday nights the have live bands that are quite good. Be sure to visit Daddy Browns if you like fried conch fritters and visit the corner bar n bistro if you want some great daiquiris

Good music in the evening on weekends. It is a very nice outdoor place with lots of sitting. Several bars and restaurants. Also there are some locals which provide excellent information on the area. Safe place also.

The square is part of the Port Lucaya Marketplace & over the road from the Grand Lucayan Resort. We went there twice, both on Fridays (although I think there is something going on every night). There was a real buzz to the place, but at the same time the atmosphere was relaxed & friendly. Live music, a real mix of locals & tourists, with loads of people getting up & joining in. The stage, dance floor & seating area is set in the middle of a variety of bars & restaurants. No charge for admission, it was a fun place to be.

This market place serves the cruise terminals and has a variety of shops which all essentially offer the same goods. The prices are all set high and you haggle them down. Standard Caribbean stuff here. Nothing overly unique. On a side note, if the Carnival ship is not in port, or leaves, they close down and go home. If you arrived on the Grand Celebration ship, you may not have an opportunity to enjoy the market.

The multi-colored buildings lining the waterfront are an attempt at recreating a harbor like the one in Curacao, but the effect is too much like Disneyland. Not ugly, just not authentic. But the square is adjacent to the Port Lucaya Marketplace and a marina, so there are good restaurants and a pleasant place to walk.

Another stop on our Carnival Cruise vacation, we spent a day in Freeport. Got the sites on the way to a Dolphin swim. Again maybe we didn't see the right parts of Freeport cause most of it was dumpy... looks like a lot of lingering storm damage from Hurricane Matthew in 2016 as well.. but once we got to Port Lucya it was pretty much heaven... there's even a inlet called Millionaires Row... fabulous boats. The water here is again crystal clear emerald colored. Beautiful sand too. People very friendly - very Jamaican (maaaaan).

I highly recommend the swim with Dolphin Encounter. It was FANTASTIC!!!! We got to swim, hug and even get kisses from the dolphins. Then they put on a spectacular show of jumps, tail walking and spinning. Amazing experience!!

Lots of places to shop but mainly very touristy and even expensive in some spots - but remember everything is negotiable.....

Not worth getting off the ship. Expensive. Not much to offer. Not pretty in the least. Nothing worth buying.
