- Lora GAfton, Oklahoma16 contributionsFreeport Beach DayWe hired Marco for a private tour of the island. Very affordable and a great guy. He found us at the cruise port and negotiated a price per person. He gave us a great tour of island then took us to Taino Beach for an hour of beach time and he stayed with us. He stopped us off at the free public beach access area. We found Bernie there. She sold Bahama Mamas and other drinks for $5 and lobster meals for $20. I think we paid $15 for a conch plate. It was a relaxing time on the beach and finding Marco and Bernie were a god send.Visited September 2023Traveled with familyWritten September 21, 2023
- teakaymBuffalo, New York125 contributionsWe had a wonderful week !We did plenty of reading of reviews about The Marlin at Taino beach. First let me say this island was decimated by hurricane Dorian in 2019 and then COVID.. enough said. We traded through RCI. Our room at the Marlin was a studio, very clean, bed was very comfy, small cooktop, mini fridge and surprise… a whirlpool tub. Very limited cookware, dishes and utensils , but we managed. Shuttle to Solomans grocery store was $8 a couple, liquor store if needed is also there. Prices are on the high side but everything is expensive on the island. You can take the ferry over to Port Lucaya for $8 pp. I must admit there was a lot that was closed, some never returned after Dorian and we went at peak hurricane season, so not many tourists. We did find some great souvenirs and a nice rest for an ice cold Kalik! The resort itself is covered in beautiful landscaping which the workers are always sweeping, pruning and picking up. The lazy river pool is awesome, which I enjoyed very much. The swim up grotto bar is very cool, you can swim through the waterfalls or enter from the patio area. Drinks are $$ but heavy on the alcohol and yummy! Yes the restaurant closes at 5 we just worked around it. The staff did host a welcome party complete with a full plate of tasty local food and rum punch! Then a dance off to win prizes…you guessed it rum ! The beach is awesome! A tractor comes early every morning to comb the beach. Plenty of huts and chairs to hang all day which we did ! Jet skis there for rent. The people who live and work anywhere in the Bahamas are truly the best. It’s a very quiet resort and working very hard to recover. We will return !Visited September 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten September 30, 2023
- rrjLake Elsinore, California5 contributionsBEWARE .Unless you have no other options..This resort looks nothing like to the pictures. It looks old and needs major upgrades. The bed is hard due to the very thin mattress. It has only one restaurant that closes either 6p-7p depending on the day. The pool is the worst I've ever seen. There are three fees due up front, one for the towels, returnable at checkout. One fee for staying at the property, non refundable and a third refundable fee that a security deposit. You must provide them your copy of the receipt for the refund to happen, except that you never get the refund. My husband handled this and didn't fight it as I would have. This place is a rip off. And unfortunately there's not a lot to do here. We travel several times a year and this place has been the worse I've visited. We did meet really nice people on the island.Visited March 2023Traveled with familyWritten November 26, 2023

In September 2018 a Hurricane hit the Grand Bahamas. Then Covid hit us all in 2020. So when the flights out of the USA opened up we booked a month on Grand Bahamas in Freeport. Neither the RCI members website or Taino Beach Resort mentioned the current situation there. Major repairs all day every day to all units with associated noise and limited facilities. No restaurant on site. No organized activities mind you hardly worth it for the four guests including us. No transportation daily. You needed to get Taxis or hire a car to get around. Limited transport to shop for food. Hardly anything on the whole island open. The people are lovely and friendly but a month of doing basically nothing. A little too boring. I felt really sorry for the honeymoon couple staying for a week.

We took a minivan for our group of 9 to go to this beach. There is nothing within walking distance to the harbour so taxi is a must. We paid round trip and were told when to be back at the stop. There was an additional beach entrance fee of $6.00 if paid with a credit card.but, the colorful shack had tables and chairs, and nuce Caribbean music. We enjoyed the sunny beach and the breeze.

We stayed December 11-18, 2022. We were looking forward to this get away due to having recently experienced a loss in our family. A couple of weeks before we went Ocean of Taino Beach Resort we were called and we asked to give up one of our suites. We had already paid for 2 suites through a vacation plan and would not be reimbursed unless we gave up one of the suite 60 days prior. However the office at the Ocean Taino Beach assured us we would be reimbursed. We felt pressured into doing so. The one suite was big enough; for we did not have the number of people we thought we would have. We felt the resort had overbooked but we reserved our rooms in July.
The suite we received looked very bad. Water was dripping from the vents. Floor was always wet. The appliances were rusty, very old. The paint was peeling off the cabinets. The kitchen table was broken. We were not impressed.
We would not recommend this to anyone.

No thanks. Costs 12.00 to get in and drink and eat. If you want to do anything else it's extra... which I understand. Costs 28.00 for 2 beach chairs and umbrella. I'm really not sure what I paid 12.00 per person for.... I guess to spend more money. We ended up going to The Sand Bar and had a great time.

This place is a scam. 6.00 entry fee per person. The beach chairs had 11.00 scratched out with 28.00 written in. The bar us stupidly overpriced and overall, the beach is terrible. I understand that this island got hammered by Dorian, but this is just plain price gouging. We went here at the recommendation of a taxi driver. Did not realize that the Arnold taxi company was in league with the beach to sucker guests from the port. We got took, don't make the same mistake.

The ride from the cruise port was a bit long, but it was worth it. The facilities are very clean and they have all the activities available there. The beach was perfect very clear water and not too expensive. There is also wifi in the beach area.

This beach was gorgeous. It was groomed so there was no seaweed as other reviewers noted. Beautiful white soft sand and clear turquoise water.
There is a public beach volleyball net for anyone to use and a little kids gated park across the street.
4 stars only because the two restaurants (Tony Macaroni & The O Grill Bar) open at 2pm so we were very hungry.
We brought out beach chairs, towels & tunes and enjoyed the day.
Thé water park is closed due to covid.

Yes. They very well kept. Bar to buy food & drinks. Shops at the entrance to buy souverior's too.
Hi, We (a family of 4) will be arriving in Freeport for 5&1/2 hours via Carnival in a month. We would like to how much it cost to get to Taino Beach via taxi? Do we need to arrange pick up with the driver to get back? Also, where is the public access point (if it still exists after Dorian) to get to the beach?

I was there in April and they were still recovering from Matthew...I would image they were since the resort is in Freeport and Dorian lingered there for many hrs

By taxi it took about 15 minutes. I don’t know about the water taxi. 2 chairs and one umbrella rental cost us $20. I think I heard additional chairs were $5. They have free Wi-Fi but it’s spotty and very slow.

We will be arriving at the cruise port next week. Have a party of 6, what is the cost of a ride to Taino Beach (either taxis or shuttle)? Can't seem to get one answer! Also, I understand there is a way to enter the beach for free. Can anyone advise on these questions? Thank you

We paid 7$ for the shuttle to the beach each person. But you can entertain the beach through the restaurant for free or even walk on the side of the restaurant straight to the beach.. just don’t go the way the shuttle driver tells you to.. and don’t buy anything from the ship
How long is the cab ride from the Carnival Cruise port? About how much round trip?

We rented a car for the week. Not sure how much they would charge for taxi. Cruise port 15 to 20 minutes away.

Looking at doing an excursion through carnival that is done by the Bahamas Adventure company on Taino Beach. In one of the pictures, there is a girl holding a Macaw and an iguana. Has anything seen this while at the beach?

Hay que pagar pero no es costoso, recuerdo que eran como 15 dólares por persona y por silla y sombrilla, pero era menos dinero si solo era la entrada.

We visited for lunch. Took the ferry there. Then sat on the beach after for a couple hours.
