Stayed at the Xanadu Beach Resort back in the late 80's with a bunch of buddies. We were one of the first groups to stay on the Howard Hughes floor after it was renovated - was pretty cool. Possibly even cooler was the snorkeling at this beach. There was a causeway beside the inlet into the marina that allowed you... More

The beach is located next to the Xanadu Hotel of Howard Hughes fame, which is now in a very sad state of disrepair since being closed about 10 years ago due to hurricane damage. There are no amenities at the beach so take provisions with you. The beach is clean and quiet and the water is beautiful. At low tide... More

Crystal clear, calm, warm water. We placed our beach chairs in the water and sat and relaxed. No one to bring you drinks and food so make sure you pack what you need for the day including an umbrella to be able to get out of the hot sun as needed.

For being in town, this beach is secluded because the Xanadu hotel closed several years ago. Usually the area is absolutely without people, but occasionally a few locals. Some support columns from a loading dock blew in during a hurricane, and have created a nice little artificial reef about 100 yards west of the canal. Depth above reef is 5... More

This is right outside the door of one of the older hotels on the island. The beach is nice and maintained. Its quite and not as long as any of the other beaches on the island. Its worth a day to relax.

If you are looking for an easily accessible beach, that you will most likely have to yourself, this is the one. Here's a tip, if YOU don't bring it, it won't be there. Included amenities are Sun, Sand, and the Ocean...that's it. This beach was only one street over from our apartment, so we took beers, margaritas, and beach chairs... More

We caught a small shuttle over to Xanadu Beach from our inland hotel. The shuttle was hot, windows down, and it ran on "island time", which means, you sit and wait and it comes when it comes. That is all part of the island experience though, and our short excursion to Xanadu was a great start to a hot, sunny,... More

Love this beach out of the tourist areas great to find shells and explore the shore! It's unfortunate that they have not rebuilt the areas and hotels around it.

Nice quite beach where we feel safe and have a lot of privacy. Our "go to", beach only 1 mile from home. Just enough people around to feel safe yet have space.
