Sometimes the best way to describe something is by saying what it isn't. Dolphin Cay isn't an aquarium, it's not an entertainment facility, and it doesn't stage marine shows. Opened in 2007 in response to a need to provide a safe haven for 16 stranded dolphins whose home was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina, Dolphin Cay is one of the world's largest open-air, man-made marine mammal habitats. Located on the west side of the Atlantis, Paradise Island property, the 14-acre environment includes an 11-acre lagoon complete with coves and sandy beaches, 7 connected "residential" pools, a state-of-the-art education center, an animal rescue-rehabilitation hospital, an animal pharmacy, a quarantine, and a separate sea lion center. Dolphin Cay is an accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), Alliance of Marine Mammal Parks and Aquariums (AMMPA), and the International Marine Animal Trainers' Association (IMATA). Through its partnerships with the University of Florida's School of Veterinary Medicine and University of Miami's Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science, Dolphin Cay plays an active role in the development of the advanced research and knowledge about marine mammals. Every visit to Dolphin Cay supports the Atlantis Blue Project Foundation, creating and promoting solutions for a wide range of marine conservation challenges from coral reef degradation to marine species in decline.

We did the Playtime with Sea Lions adventure at Dolphin Cay. It was a fun time. Our guides were engaging and silly. We had good laughs. They took lots of nice pictures for us to remember. I have never done this type of activity so...More

We had an amazing time! We did the deep water experience with four kids, ages 9, 12, 14, & 15. It was truly one of the best family experiences we have had, and that says a lot as we have been blessed beyond what we...More

Swimming with dolphins and interacting was a learning experience. Kids loved just splashing around with them.

We chose the shallow and deep water dolphin encounter. It far exceeded my expectations. We have never had so much fun. It was definitely a memory that will be treasured forever. And the pictures (thank you Julie Jean-Francois for the help with photo packages), we...More

This was a fantastic experience and our guide, Roberto was just awesome. We did the shallow depth experience. The absolute only reason it is 4 stars is because we really didn’t get a chance to do much with the dolphin. Maybe the deep depth experience...More

We chose the Rise and Shine With Dolphins experience for several reasons: We liked the early time of day, it was reasonably priced, and it was one of the few experiences that we would not have to pay to participate with our eight-year-olds. Upon arriving...More

Fun morning with dolphins. Arrived early and had to wait about an hour. Seems they schedule it early so everyone is on time.

My son of 18 months and I did this and it was so great, they were so accommodating to an 18 month who just wanted to touch and play like it was his puppy whilst taking the utmost care of their dolphins. Well worth the...More

This place is totally not worth the trip. It hardly has anything good for kids to enjoy. For a cost of $33/ person, they only allow limited access to the dolphins. The “tricks” the dolphins do aren’t even close to ones we see in any...More

I would recommend booking in advance if you really want to do it. There were a limited number of spots when we booked through our cruise tour. If it’s not a big deal and your scheduling is flexible, you could wait until you... More

We did the rise and shine, and we wore our own bathing suits. I’m not sure about the other interactions.
