First visited in the middle of cruise ship tours, had to skip over most shops due to crowds, where we did stop in staff where distracted. We went back a few hours later and had a much better experience. Mostly touristy craft shops, but could be of interest depending on your interests. Worth checking out.

You can spend a couple of hours or less depending on your plans. There is a lot to see and many of the shop owners are friendly and chatty. Better to walk there. the street is narrow and crowded with taxis and tour vans. There are shops for eating, visiting and seeing local / native crafts

If you are into rich history of every detail in little towns, this can be for you. They gave great detail on the history and people are friendly.

It is interesting to see, but it is way off the beaten path. The shops are small, so you can see everything in about half an hour. The staff in each business was very friendly so that helped.

We tried to have lunch at the Graycliff Restaurant but they don't serve on Saturday - so this wonderful man who was cleaning the restaurant gave us a tour of the restaurant/grounds/cigar factory and chocolate store. It was really neat to watch the guys make the cigars and "Mr Cool" the impromptu tour guide shared some really cool stories about the place. Gorgeous grounds! Then we went across to the museum and took the tour - not all of the items on display are closely linked to the Bahamas history, but the lady who gave us the presentation was very knowledgeable and pleasant. Loved this little part of the city!

We spent a week in Nassau and saw a ton! We went here specifically because we thought a "Chocolatier" would be "amazing chocolate.

Nope.

Just expensive, OK chocolate.
Very disappointing.

I want my hour back!

PS. GOOD LUCK finding this place!

I don't know how we found it, but it was a great stop. Several of the artists were "out". It had a beautiful little courtyard with colorful glass bottles. We did see the tire artists. It was a casual open air studio area (not clean public bathrooms). We also admired the pottery art from another artists.

This area of Nassau, Bahamas is considered the main artist area for their studios and the national art museum. We stumbled onto this newly renovated building housing about 6 different local artist working in many different mediums. .I recommend this to any art lover of local arts. One of the artists showcases all the different things she can make from old car tires. From this idea she started a large school based art program utilizing inexpensive items around their neighborhoods to get hundreds of local kids involved in art in some way despite them having only 5 dollars to join.
