My husband and I just returned from the Bahamas on 07/30/14 and during our 5 day honeymoon this amazing snorkeling experience was the icing on the cake! First, Basil is just an amazing person and we felt like we made a lifelong friend in the Bahamas. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and most important passionate about his job. He took his time allowing us to sight-see and took us to an amazing reef to snorkel. He never rushed us and even brought along light refreshments for us. It felt awesome and intimate only sharing our excursion with one other family rather than the jam-packed catamarans we saw nearby snorkeling as well. The value of this excursion is defintely worth it and we will forever cherish these memories. Thank you Basil! Love Ty and Juan

This was my second Royal Carribean cruise to Nassau.
I reserved our excursion online since I had a bad experience the previous year on a crowded catamaran snorkeling tour.

They are conveniently located right behind Senior Frogs and part of the Hilton hotel ( a huge bonus is access to the Hilton's private and amazing beach)
When I first arrived fifteen minutes early there was no one there but I was reminded this was the Bahamas and " island time"

Captain Basil took our small group of seven to a wonderful snorkeling location near a historic lighthouse. He was very friendly and knowledgeable about local culture and history (tour guiding along the way)
It was way better to be on a small boat than the "cattle catamaran"
He supplied gear, ice water and sodas. This experience is perfect if you have limited time ( 2.5 hours total)
On the way back he detoured to the Atlantis to show us the resort.
I nightly recommend and it is well worth the money.
Thanks captain Basil and Bluehole Watersports!

I was researching what to do during our port stop from our cruise. I had read several reviews saying how great this company was, so I decided to book. We were not disappointed at all. There was 7 in our party, and a couple on our adventure. Basil was a pleasure to work with and got us all set up. Mark was our guide. He was very knowledgeable and shared lots of information about the area. He took our group out to a great spot. Away from all the LARGE groups you see. He properly instructed us on what to do and was very encouraging. The entire time was fantastic. I would recommend this company to anyone.
The only complaint that I want to share is BlueHole is located on the property of the Hilton hotel on the beach. My family had to change into our swimsuits before our outing, We used the bathrooms by the outdoor pool. We had no issues with using those facilities, but as my family waited for Basil to return to the hut( we had 15 min to wait), my family walked down to the beach and waded through the water. We did not use any of the beach chairs, etc., but an employee said that this beach was for hotel guests only. We explained that we were waiting for Basil to return, he said we had to wait by the building. I feel that if BlueHole is renting a space from the Hilton, that we should have a place decent designated place to wait( benches, chairs, something) instead of sitting on a concrete dyke waiting for our adventure.

My family and I were looking for an intimate snorkeling experience during our Nassau port stop. We didn't want to be in a large group and found just the right fit with Basil at Bluehole. It was only the 4 of us and was very reasonably priced. He took us on a fairly short boat ride to a reef area where we were free to snorkel. On the way to the reef we were provided with a brief history of the island and the area and he also took us around the Atlantis resort. The reef was wonderful and he was able to point us around to the best areas to snorkel the reef. He had water and soda available for us when we were done as well. It was a little bit of a walk to the Hilton to reach his boat location in the morning. After snorkeling he returned us to a dock that was much closer to our ship and the main shopping areas for our convenience. The other snorkeling excursions we saw that day were either very poorly maintained by appearance or had a huge number of occupants (50-100 people). I highly recommend Basil and Bluehole.

Please do not book your snorkeling trip through anyone else but Bluehole Watersports. I like the fact that they do not take a deposit and trust you that you are going to show up. As a cruise traveler I am apprehensive about booking an excursion if I will not get a refund, just a credit, due to bad weather. When we pulled into Nassau, there was heavy rain and thunderstorms. I still felt like we should go over to Bluehole to see about our trip. Basil was waiting for us and he said he was there just in case we came. He said he could not take us out due to thunderstorms in the area. We had the Tru Bahamian Food Tour booked from 12 - 3. He said if the weather looked good to come back around 3:00 and he would see if we could go out. The sun did come out and we were able to go out. There were us four and another couple. It was great, just being on a small boat instead of with the masses on a cruise ship excursion. Basil was very safety conscious and made sure we had the proper equipment. He took us out to this nice reef by a lighthouse. He carefully watched us and we snorkeled about an hour. He had drinks for us for the way back. Took us into the Atlantis Marina to see the large yachts and see an up close of Atlantis. He was very friendly and what a great time we had. Please give him your business but give him the courtesy of an email if you don't plan to show up. There were other people who asked about a trip with him but he said we were coming back. You will enjoy the trip.

A great experience. Mark, the Captain, went above and beyond. There were 9 of us including children and he made sure everyone was outfitted, had fun and saw many species of fish.
BlueHole is a family owned business and it was great to hear Mark speak very highly of his parents.
I highly recommend BlueHole and will go back and do it again.

Nassau was one of our cruise destinations and we were looking for an excursion that wasn't part of our ship (overcrowded and overpriced). I found Bluehole snorkling online and booked with them a week before we left. The communication was awesome with Kathy who responds quickly to email and was happy to get on the phone with me and iron out details. When we arrived in Nassau we walked over to Bluehole which is literally a 8 min walk from where the cruise ship docks. (but leave plenty of time to get there, its a colorful town filled with shops and a unique straw market, so i strongly suggest you "meander" over to Bluehole. Easiest way to find them is by going through the Hilton Hotel lobby. Go through the lobby and out the back of the hotel while staying to your right. Walk through the hotel garden area going towards the water...there's a little hut on the dock by the water...that's Bluehole. We were met by Basil, the friendly owner and tour guide. He took our payment at the window and started sizing us for snorkel gear. We are small family of 4 (my wife and two kids ages 10 and 12). We can't say enough about Basil, he was so nice to the kids and made us feel welcome. He took us out about 15 - 20 mins by boat and showed us tons of colorful fish at the reef and then to a second spot around a shipwreck!! This was a really exclusive and special experience and beats going to Atlantis any day! The small boat is the only way to go snorkeling in my opinion and we felt VERY safe the whole time. He offered us soda's and water on the way back and probably answered 100 questions we had about the island. This is a grass roots, family operation with no-frills boats... so if you are mostly "indoor", pain-in-the-a$s, or high maintenance people, this may not be for you. However, if you show up with a great attitude and an appetite for adventure, this will definitely be the highlight of your vacation!

We booked a last minute boat trip for the last day of our holiday. It was the best day! Our friendly captain, Mark, was completely flexible with what we wanted to do. He took us to see turtles, some great fish and fantastic corals and also gave us lots of information about the islands. Some of the best snorkelling we have done. Our daughter (6) enjoyed the day too, sometimes snorkelling and sometimes staying on boat.
All in all a great day!

We were greeted by Basil, he was as excited to take us on the tour as we were to be going. The boat ride out was fantastic. He told us about some of the different islands and pointed out some pretty nice homes. This wasn't our first snorkeling excursion but by far the best. There were two other people on the boat with us from another ship which beats 40 to 50 people on a catamaran. He took us to a great spot, only 4 of us over the reef so we had plenty of space to move around. I was a little cold and nervous but Basil wouldn't allow me to be discouraged. My friend, SCUBBA STEVE didn't want to get out of the water. By far the best snorkeling trip available. Basil is great, the spot he took us to was beautiful and you can't beat the price. Already book another cruise and booked another snorkel trip with BlueHole Watersports. See you in June!
