About
Cigar Rolling with Rum tasting at the Graycliff Cigar Company. Learn how to sort, clean, store and roll a cigar – at the Graycliff Cigar Company, you can become a torcedore in a few hours. The lesson begins with the history of tobacco, where the best leaves come from, and why you blend certain leaves together to make the award winning Graycliff cigars. Once you’ve mastered the art, you’ll sample a variety of world renowned rums from the Bahamas’s own Bacardi to other Caribbean rums - Mount Gay and Barbacourt, and many more. The Graycliff Cigar Company began production in January 1997 in Nassau, The Bahamas. What then began as a single roller in the restaurant entrance way has now expanded to an award winning boutique Cigar Company with 16 master rollers, each an expert in their various format. Excellent learning experience with friendly and knowledgeable locals eager to share their expertise! Rolling our own cigars was the highlight of the 5 day cruise! Highly recommend this location as you walk through Nassau. Once the doors open you can have a self guided tour amongst the property. Beautiful art and murals and tile. Perfect for a diverse party and space to sit in the open air or indoors and relax while the folks interested in cigars explore the cigar rolling.
Our cigar rolling teacher was excellent! She didn’t speak English but was very eager to show and explain in motions and short sentences on what to do. Very great experience with her assisting us.

The double espresso is an interesting cigar, they had the larger 6” pyramid format, but you will pay for them, no different than if buying from your local retail outlet. Other cigar factories make it special to buy their blends on site. Not here.

By the way, you have to walk through a dilapidated set of hallways and back entrances to find this place. Construction projects half finished, all to make it to the depressing ‘factory’, where I felt like I was a nuisance to the woman there - where I might have otherwise dropped some serious money on special boxes to bring home.

The cigars were pretty good, well made, I enjoyed smoking a piece of the Bahamas by the pool.

Spent several days at the lounge during our 10 day stay in Nassau. The property is beautiful with great indoor and outdoor smoking areas. The patrons and staff I met were so warm and welcoming. The sticks and conversations were amazing!

A friend stopped in ar my request and got me 10 cigars. I have smoked the Chateau Grand Cru for 18 years now. It seems following the death of Avelino Laura that quality has gone completely out the window. Cigars are spongy and under filled. Have trouble staying lit. Instead of getting them from the humidor, he said it took them a good 20 minutes. My guess is they had a subpar roller make them fresh. With these new full cigar bands its impossible to inspect before purchase. At $25 a cigar you are better served buying other premium smokes. The old Graycliff mare aint what she used to be.

I am a cigar fan who smokes fine cigars, and had read about Graycliff in Cigar Aficionado magazine once or twice. I went to the store to view the cigars and do the cigar tour. The lady at the counter in the cigar shop pointed me to the back and said to go watch them make a few cigars. As I proceeded to the back, there were three people in there rolling cigars and multiple empty chairs. It almost looked like an abandoned operation. When I returned to the counter I realized that they have very few cigars for sale on display. The place is a tourist trap for cruise ships that has not been properly maintained for years obviously. Go there for the cheap pizza, but not the cigar tour.

Post the prices for the cigars. Ridiculous to have to ask over and over again. The only one who knows the prices is the young man at the cash register. Come on Graycliff. What are you hiding? Same thing with the chocolates. I would have bought much more but everything was just a big question mark and I really didn’t have time to figure it out.

We visited the cigar factory on a small tour and it was great. I’ve enjoyed smoking Graycliff cigars for years, and have bought them at the hotel store on past visits to the island. I recently purchased two for $52 from the store, and I should have checked they more closely. Once we were back in the vehicle and I was putting them away I found they were very dry and brittle. Needless to say I am very disappointed that I wasted that $$…

My husband and I took this tour as an excursion on our cruise with Disney. It was the highlight of our trip! We were the only 2 on this excursion, our first cruise and our first trip to the Bahamas celebrating my husband's 40th birthday. We were greeted by a local lady at our ship, dressed very professionally and clearly well-known to the area. She maneuvered us through all the hawkers at the boarding area, which was well appreciated. We then joined her in a van which shuttled us to the Graycliff. Along the way, she pointed out local points of interest, including the Governor's Mansion. We were then introduced to our guide, who quickly poured us a signature drink, which we sipped while getting a tour of the Hotel. This included the wine cellar and grounds. After this, we were taken to the Cigar portion of the tour and left in the hands of the head of that department. Most of the workers did not speak English, but we managed (esp. with the help of our guide). I knew NOTHING about cigars and my husband was amateur, but we were treated so nicely. We were taught how to roll cigars and they were very patient. I rolled 3 and hubby 2 and we got to keep them. (Hubby says they're the best he's ever had. Warning...he became very interested in cigars following this tour and now owns his own humidor.) After this, we were taken back to the hotel for our rum tasting. What a sight as we walked in and saw about 15 bottles lined up on the table, along with fruit and chocolates! Our guide led us through the tasting, which was very enjoyable and we learned a lot. Who knew there were so many rums and so many different tastes! Once we had finished them (and were quite happy!), he showed us a table with more rums to see if there were any more we wished to try. We wrote down our favorites to bring home. You can imagine after 15 shots of rum how the rest of the day went! :-) We were then picked up by the van driver, who intended to take us back to the port, but we asked where the Hard Rock was for lunch, and she just drove us there. We spent the rest of our time after lunch in the Market and walking the streets on that side of Nassau. It was a great time! Definitely only for couples and singles, no kids.

While having breakfast on our cruise ship, a retired RCMP "Mountie" gave me a great tip. "Skip the Market & Atlantis and go to Graycliff." The Graycliff Hotel, Restaurant and Cigar Factory is a fun and unique adventure. While not being well-marked, we walked (and asked for directions along the way) and it took us less than 15 minutes from ship to the Graycliff complex. The property is expansive and at one time was probably 'world-class.' It is still beautiful and finding the cigar factory (and store) from the main Hotel entrance, will take you through the gardens and pool areas, which by itself is worth the walk.

The cigar factory makes the signature Graycliff brand of cigars, you can walk into the rolling floor and watch cigars being handmade. The employees are happy to oblige you with a photo, they sing while rolling cigars, it was a special experience. In the store, you will find prices are very reasonable, with singles ranging from $6.00 and up & bundles priced even better. The store also carries accessories, apparel and gifts.

My wife is not a cigar smoker... and barely tolerates my bad habit, but she really enjoyed this and said If we ever visit Nassau again, we will go to Graycliff and spend more time in the bar & restaurant. Everyone we met there was warm, helpful and very friendly!

The most amazing part of our trip was visiting and paying to roll our own cigars. Just the tour alone was so informative but to get the hands on training from some of the best cigar rollers in the world (each had to train at least 10 years in Cuba before being hired) was very special.
