Overview
More
The Ardastra Gardens, Zoo & Conservation Centre is a peaceful 80 year-old retreat spread over 4 acres of lush tropical gardens. It is a boutique zoo that specializes in bird rescue & rehabilitation, education, preservation of history and conservation of natural resources. Ardastra is home to many native species of plants and animals - including the Bahamas National Bird, the beautiful and exotic Caribbean Flamingo. We are well-known for our animal encounters that allow visitors to get "up close "with some of our residents. We encourage all of our visitors to take a guided tour for a better appreciation of our residents and our property. To maximize enjoyment, we also encourage our guests to schedule their visits around our Signature Showtimes: 10:30am, 1:30pm or 3:30pm. You can participate in the "Flamingo Experience", a unique show of the glory and antics of these incredible creatures together with an excellent narration of their story. Guests can also hand-feed the colourful and playful South Pacific Lory Parrots and have numerous photographic opportunities during your visit. While walking the Gardens, friendly and informed staff will answer questions while two-legged feathered friends will freely entertain. Light refreshments are available at the "Parrot Pit Stop". "Toby's Treasures" is filled with gifts/souvenirs so that you can take a piece of Ardastra home with you.

We were actually here in June, 2013, but that wasn't an option on the drop down. This was one of the stops our tour bus made while in Nassau as part of our Bahamas cruise. I'm glad we chose this tour. We enjoyed the flamingo...More

We took our 17 month old here in February and we had a blast!! You can walk from the cruise port, even though the info booth people will look at you like you are crazy for wanting to do so. It's probably about 2-3 miles...More

Cruise ship had a stop in Nassau. Having been there before, we decided to give this a try. Took a bus, then about a half mile walk. Thought it was rather expensive for what it was - $18 per adult. Figured we took the time...More

Fed the lorikeets (parrots) by hand. The flamingo march was amazing. I could not believe how they followed their "sergeant-major." The most beautiful bird was the white peacock.

Catch a local bus from George Street in Nassau to Ardastra Gardens and Zoo, and see the marvellous show of "marching flamingos" that is put on three times per day. It is clever how the zoo have harnessed the natural tendency of the pink Caribbean...More

It has been 2 years since I visited this zoo but I still have fond memories of feeding the Lorys and the watching the hilarious marching flamingos. It was all worth the visit.

This is a very small zoo but you can see the animals up lose and it is not crowded. The marching flamingos are more like "chased" flamingos that stop when they are not being chased but beautiful none the less. On of the most beautiful...More

Ardastra was a great stop for the day. Although the prices are a little high (especially with VAT in place) it was worth the stop. It would be a great place to bring kids or a date, as it is a very interactive program. Be...More

From the time you enter the zoo it is a quieting, peaceful experience. The slow pace and simple exhibits allow you to relax and really enjoy this small gem of a zoo. Walking among the flamingos as they stroll alongside you was my favorite part....More

The cost for adults is $18.00 each. The "zoo" is very small and is filled mostly with birds. There are free roaming peacocks and flamingos. There are also parrots and the like out on perches throughout the walk. There is a small petting area with...More

Hi Angiecastroc21. We apologize for the delayed response. Zoo admission remains the same year round. $18 for adults, $9 for children (4-12) and toddlers (3yrs and younger) are free. We hope to see you soon!!

It depends on your pace. You can see everything in 45 minutes, maybe less including the Marching Flamingo Spectacular Show. On the other hand, if you want to get to know the flora and fauna, browse the souvenir show, plan on... More
