The Ardastra Gardens, Zoo & Conservation Centre is a peaceful 80 year-old retreat spread over 4 acres of lush tropical gardens. It is a boutique zoo that specializes in bird rescue & rehabilitation, education, preservation of history and conservation of natural resources. Ardastra is home to many native species of plants and animals - including the Bahamas National Bird, the beautiful and exotic Caribbean Flamingo. We are well-known for our animal encounters that allow visitors to get "up close "with some of our residents. We encourage all of our visitors to take a guided tour for a better appreciation of our residents and our property. To maximize enjoyment, we also encourage our guests to schedule their visits around our Signature Showtimes: 10:30am, 1:30pm or 3:30pm. You can participate in the "Flamingo Experience", a unique show of the glory and antics of these incredible creatures together with an excellent narration of their story. Guests can also hand-feed the colourful and playful South Pacific Lory Parrots and have numerous photographic opportunities during your visit. While walking the Gardens, friendly and informed staff will answer questions while two-legged feathered friends will freely entertain. Light refreshments are available at the "Parrot Pit Stop". "Toby's Treasures" is filled with gifts/souvenirs so that you can take a piece of Ardastra home with you.

We walked from downtown Nassau along Bay St to the Ardastra Gardens & Zoo with a stop at the Heritage Village Fish Fry area. Admission to the zoo was $18 US. The attraction has seen better days and is in need of a lot of...More

We spent just over two hours here, I would suggest going around 9:30, that way you can have a look around before the Flamingo show at 10:30, then to parrot feeding at 11:15. During this we were given about three pieces of apple each to...More

We were looking for an activity for a couple of hours to get out of the sun. We went to this little conservation park with low expectations. It was delightful and fun. It's quite small and it's very low tech but the parrot feeding and...More

Did a Shore excursion here with my son. The Flamingo presentation was nice and it's cool that they let select visitors interact with them during the show. Bird feeding was neat but over crowded. Animal feeding for an extra fee. The zoo is small and...More

The flamingo show was really cool and they allow you to interact with the flamingoes by striking a flamingo pose. They will pick a few volunteers to strike a flamingo with the flamingoes in the arena. The flamingoes get really close and it's really amazing....More

We visited about 4 years ago and gave great reviews. Now it's a different story...hurricane damage and neglect. This place needs a BOOST of capital ASAP. The animals and birds what few they have appear unhealthy. The grounds and landscaping need work. Let's hope they...More

Thanks for choosing to revisit us CMDA and for sharing your review. You are quite right, a lot has changed in the last 4 years. As you mentioned, we were severely impacted by the passage of Hurricane Matthew. Fallen trees compromised the safety of many...More

This was our second visit to the zoo and it was just as fantastic as our first visit last year. We loved the variety of animals, especially the exotic birds. The staff were very helpful and we will be sure to visit again next year.

Hi Angiecastroc21. We apologize for the delayed response. Zoo admission remains the same year round. $18 for adults, $9 for children (4-12) and toddlers (3yrs and younger) are free. We hope to see you soon!!
Was it safe walking to the zoo? Can you get a map at the pier giving walking directions to the zoo?

It depends on your pace. You can see everything in 45 minutes, maybe less including the Marching Flamingo Spectacular Show. On the other hand, if you want to get to know the flora and fauna, browse the souvenir show, plan on... More
