Walking the hilly streets to observe architecture and local color, we noticed a sign for Blackbeard's Castle, a National Historic Site, and continued up the hill. Rain began just as we entered so we hurried to the tower. Unfortunately we got only half way up...More

Travelers should know this isn't a tour site. Its tucked away in a nice residential area with beautiful views of the north eastern harbour of the island. It is pretty hard to find if you don't ask the right people but it's a lovely little...More

I have read some of the recent reviews and it is clear that some people have confused the Water Tower, with Blackbeard's Tower. There are no shops or bathrooms any where near Blackbeard's Tower, and it is not at the top of the Queen's Staircase....More

I am not saying it a must see, but it is nice to visit, the cost is $2 and they have shoppes and bathrooms. The view is great from the tower

I had heard about Blackbeard's Tower and wanted to visit it. We decided to take a chance and see if we could find it. It's not possible to see the tower from the main road as it is covered by trees but one of the...More

Whether or not the tower is really Blackbeard's is, of course, debatable. It is, however, an interesting ruin of a tower complete with an inscription inside and wooden staircase. If it was possible to climb to the top (the staircase is far from sturdy!) I'm...More
