On our recent cruise, we set out to explore the island on our own. Located about 20 minutes away by foot from the cruise terminal, Fort Fincastle provides a good view of the island. You do pay a small fee ($1.07) to enter the old fortress, but one inside a guide will explain its historical importance and let you push... More

This was a nice little historical spot to visit on our trip, but was surrounded by tourist peddlers so thick you could hardly move. I'm not sure I would go back, as the "guide" who explained the information about the fort was a tad rude.

The good thing is it only costs $1 to get in. The view of Nassau from inside is pretty decent.... if you've seen old forts then you've seen this.... but again. It's $1

Neat little fort, especially if you've never seen one before. We went early in the morning as it was July and very hot, so it wasn't very crowded. You pay $1 to enter and can walk around solo or with one of the "guides". There's not very much to see - a couple cannons inside the walls and the rooms... More

Suitable for young kids who like cannons. Good scenery at the top, but not much more to do once up there. Cost is $1 + Vat

It's actually a great piece of our history but it has too much vendors in my opinion there. People do not seem to mind it, tourist seem excited if anything for small keepsakes from Bahamas. But there's a time and place for everything. With it being a fort as well as at the top of The Queens Staircase the tourist... More

My husband and I love to site see. This was a very small castle. There is a $1 charge to enter. There is a tour guide that gives about a ten minute tour to give you a brief history and then he will take your photo. The view at the top of the castle is nice. It's an important castle,... More

If you only have a little time, do the Queen's Staircase and Fort Fincastle. It is small but interesting. If you really want a fort experience go to Fort Charlotte

This was our first visit to the fort. Once you are up there, it feels like you can see the entire island. It's a beautiful view.

Our second visit to Fort Fincastle, the view is very nice. The history of the fort is interesting, very ingenious that they built the fort to look like a ship on the horizon to potential invaders. Our tour guide was full of facts about the area. Good photo ops especially if you're cruising - great view of ships in port.
