The streets are congested with cars and scooters and the sidewalks bustle with tourists coming off the cruise ships so you must experience it yourself, so hard to put it all into words. We took the bus from our resort to downtown for $1.25 and riding on these little buses around the traffic circles was a great part of the adventure. It's a little rundown but we felt very safe and the locals were very helpful in getting us to where we wanted to go.

Downtown Nassau was pretty nice. Despite suggestions that Nassau was dangerous, it is no more so than any business district in any American, Canadian, or European city. Businesses want tourist money, and the area is geared towards foreigners. There is a very strong police presence, with cops walking the streets on foot 24/7. Even at night, the police are out in force making sure that tourists are safe while out at the bars. Police cars drive with their flashing lights on so tourists and would-be criminals alike know that they are close by. With a little common sense, any tourist should be fine walking around whenever they're there.

I was not expecting much. So, I was not disappointed. This was the start of our two hour walking tour in Nassau. We took a picture with Sir Milo Butler and moved on.

My family and I visited Nassau as a stop on our cruise. Some of the historic sights are great, but if you take a break and sit on the benches in the square, you are bombarded with locals trying to sell you stuff. They are very pushy, attempt to put jewelry on you and even tell you that the goods are being sold for charity. Just saying no isn't enough either. I had to stand up be confrontational and then leave and they still attempted to follow. Also, the place felt very run down and poorly maintained. I generally don't mind this, but with the addition of the locals all over us...it felt uncomfortable. If you visit...just keep moving.

We visited on December 11th. The bleachers were already up in preparation for the Junkanoo parades. Enjoyed smelling all of the blooms on every tree and bush. Such a pretty sight.

Not much to see or do in Rawson Square. The senate and house of assembly chambers are small. Not a lot going on.

Rawson Square in downtown Nassau is a nice and very busy place. You must experience the vibe. Locals are very nice cool people.

Met our guide at Rawson Square. Found the place with no trouble as it was very close to the site where we were moored. Helped make our day a good one.

Located not to far from the shops but a quiet little corner away from it all. Flower gardens and interesting buildings in the area to admire while sitting.

Nothing to see there....a statue of one of the early leaders, trees, and people waiting on buses and rides...a native place nothing really touristy about it....
