Purchased this tour as shore excursion through Royal Caribbean @ $169 each. Our tour guide was very friendly and seemed to be knowledgeable enough, but here's basically what we got:
Visited very briefly the outside of 3 fort remains and Queens Staircase. We didn't have time to really walk around any of these. At one of the forts, I attempted to step in hoping to see the view from the top, and was informed that it was an additional $2 (not included) to do so, but not really a problems since we were off and running.
We visited 4 commercial businesses: a rum cake place, a cigar place where we walked through an area where a couple women were rolling cigars, Tasty Teas where we were informed about the benefits of their teas (I did purchase 2 types of teas, but certainly not why we signed up for the tour), and John Watling's Distillery which was in a beautiful setting, but in the end just another sales opportunity.
After the above stops, we finally drove along the ocean and past some of the beautiful upscale resorts. This was the shortest part of the trip before stopping for lunch, which was included in the price. We went to quaint small local restaurant. We were served 2 conch balls (sort of a hush puppy with conch) and lemonade, 1 chicken wing and maybe 2 small pieces of fried fish (not sure what the fish was) with dirty rice and a dab of cold slaw. Lunch was ok, but certainly not even $25 worth of food (probably more like $12-$15 at tourist retail price).
They advertise that the jeep has video monitors to give more historical information, but the day we toured they were not in use with no explanation as to why not.
Touring in the Jeep is more of a gimmick as we never went anywhere that any car couldn't also go. Since this is supposed to be an adventure tour, we thought perhaps we'd drive along a sandy beach or up to the highest point of the island for a view or in a jungle type area. Drove past but did not go in or stop at Edu-Culture Junkanoo Museum.
My over all criticism is that it's over priced by a lot for what we got. I'd have rather had a hop-on/hop-off type experience rather than going to places I didn't care about (commercial sales) and not spending time at the place I'd have liked to explore more.
