What I liked about it is that it is very quiet and there’s not a lot of people. It is very pretty but there’s a busy road behind you and industrial oil wells to the right of you. I just sat with my back to the oil wells and then you feel like you’re on a private island. However, you can hear the sounds of the trucks on the street behind you. There were rock formations and by kids were able to find some wildlife on those.

Beach about an hour walk from the downtown area, but you walk along the fish fry to get there. Lots of little snails and hermit crabs near the beach.
Great view looking out, gas station for snacks located nearby.

Take the #10 bus after walking into town from the cruise ship. It was about a 10 minute walk to the nearest bus stop . Let the bus driver know where you want to go because he wont ask. The bus ride was around 10 minutes with traffic ($1.25 USD per person). Keep in mind that this was on a Friday, at noon. Once you see the KFC and Pizza hut on the left side of the street, you'll know you're close. There is also a liquor store near by with a great selection of beer. Cross the street (cautiously) and you'll be at the most beautiful, white sand, clear, warm water beach you have ever seen! There were two people on the beach when we got there, two local young ladies. They had no problem with snapping a photo of my girlfriend and I. No other tourists, vendors, tour guides, ect were around to hassle you. There are restrooms at the furthest end of the beach but we didn't have to use them. The only noise we had to deal with was the jet ski rider coming back and forth to refill his gas cans at the Shell gas station across the street. The sun is strong so be prepared with all of your beach necessities (leave behind large amounts of cash/credit cards). Maybe we got lucky that day but I would definitely make this beach our go-to if we were to visit again. Getting back to the Cruise Terminal was easier than getting to the beach. Shortly after we began walking back towards the ship, a bus driver stopped in the middle of the street and kindly let us in. You can ask him to bring you to the local fish-fry for a bite to eat, or you can choose one of the many bars/restaurants closer to the Port. Definitely worth the extra leg-work to check out this beach if you want to avoid high-dollar excursions and the usual tourist atmosphere.

This is our second trip to Nassau. We went to Cabbage Beach on our last visit, but Saunders Beach is my new favorite!! The beach is clean without vendors. There are restrooms and showers available. And across the street is a gas station where you can grab snacks and drinks. The water was beautiful and we were able to snorkel right off the beach. I would highly recommend this Beach.

I arrived at about 1pm and the beach was nearly empty!
If you like a quiet beach this would've the spot. If you will be staying for long it would be best to bring all of your beach gear. There is a gas station nearby for nibbles and drinks.

We made the choice to do a quiet, inexpensive outing during this port stop on our Royal Caribbean cruise. As a family of 6, this was a perfect solution.

The hardest part was getting out of the labyrinth of the cruise port (and being nearly accosted and followed in attempts to sell us things) and finding the jitney "station" which was near an ice cream store a little ways from the straw market. We hopped on the number 10 and told the driver where we were headed. It stopped right at a shell gas station right across the street from the beach.

We nearly had the entire beach to ourselves. There was a playground and small restroom area. The beach was guarded by two security guards (who even chased away a couple stray dogs for us). The sand and water were very clean minus some seaweed areas.

We stayed for about 90 minutes for just some quiet beach time before heading back to the ship. We stood next to the road by the bathrooms and soon a jitney #10 came by, flashed their lights, we waved, and they stopped so we could get on. We road it all the way back to their waiting area near the straw market.

It was a peaceful and cheap excursion for us! Plus you get a taste of local culture! We actually felt much safer here than we did in the cruise port area!

After reading previous reviews, we decided to try this beach. It was awesome! There was some dried seaweed in places on the beach, but not bad at all for us, and no trash. Perfect beach for peace, quiet, and relaxation. Bathrooms were clean and two security guards were on the sidewalk near the beach keeping an eye on things. We took the #10 Jitney Bus to the beach for $1.25 per person. Just ask someone when you get off the cruise ship where to catch the #10 bus. It wasn't difficult at all. Our driver missed the beach stop, but immediately turned around and dropped us off when we notified him. It was just my husband and I and we went on a Sunday. We were the only ones there for quite awhile. 5 other families showed up eventually, but that was it. Nice gentle waters for swimming, and good sand for relaxing on.

Saunders beach has beautiful views of out islands, lots of sand, beautiful crystal waters for swimming, there are benches in shade if that's your preference, the water here is very calm so swimming and floating and snorkeling are great, there is a small rock jetty for the little tropical fish to hang around. They also have rest rooms, a fresh water shower, and a Store within walking distance if you need drinks or snacks. The #10 bus will take you here for $1.25. That was awesome. Also playground for the little ones. You will love Saunders beach! !

If you're on a cruise, walk down to where buses are (ask someone - they will point you in the right direction), and look for a bus with a #10 on it. Ask for Saunders Beach. We paid $1.25 per person. They drop you off at the beach, and when we got there, we had it all to ourselves. There's a very clean restroom on one end, and there are some awesome climbing rocks. Water is clean and blue. Beach is clean with soft, spacious expanse of sand. Across the street, you can buy beer and snacks at corner stores. Only down side is that the street is right there, but with the waves, you can hardly hear traffic, and the convenience of picking the bus up on the other side makes this a super easy, super cheap tour excursion. We spent three lovely hours enjoying the sun and sand.
