Nice beach but very close to the international airport. During the day, almost every 10 minutes there are planes landing making a lot of noise. In addition, if you do not stay in one of the rental in front of the beach, the restaurant will ask you to pay 5$ each to access the beach.

First a disclaimer, we did not stay at Compass Point, we were at Love Beach and walked to Compass Point along the beach. We popped in for an early dinner (~1730) on our arrival day and were greeted warmly. Our waiter, Moral, did a good job of getting us situated, but our bucket of beers took probably 45 minutes to get to the table. The reason was that the beers were still warm (probably because we were early diners that day) and Moral had to ice them down for us; the bucket comes with 5 beers for 3 people, no offer was made to include one more beer (2 each) for having waited so long for the beers. Left a bad taste.
The food was OK, but frankly you’ll do better across the street at Studio Cafe and perhaps at Aquafire (we haven’t tried Aquafire as of this writing).

They are now charging $5/pp to enter which includes access to bathrooms, shower, and Wi-Fi. Beer is $5. Drinks are $10. And not strong. The day we went it was windy and not enjoyable at all for snorkeling. Felt very scammy to me and I would skip it if I were you. If you do decide to go, $2 for the bus will get you there from downtown in about 30 minutes.

Best beach we visited out of Junkanoo, Cabbage and Sandyport beaches. We took 12b jitney” bus” from Sandyport for 1.25 each way. We paid $5 a person to enter the beach via Nirvana love beach. You can sit for free on upper deck or pay $7 for each chair or an umbrella. We chose to just lay our towels on the beach under a palm tree. Excellent snorkeling we saw Lion fish and Stingray others saw crabs. Variety of fish, larger ones on outskirts of the reef. Worth the trek and wish we stayed all day rather than a few hours. We read complaints about planes flying over, maybe 5 planes flew over while we were there. They are loud but it didn’t bother us.

As we were touring the island we felt that this was beach should be on the list to go. What a waste. The only way to access it is via a bar which you pay $5 each and then additional for sunbed hire. Food at the bar is good enough and you have access to showers and loo’s,but still not worth going to when there are other nice beaches which are free. Staff were rude and unhelpful at the bar. You are also under the flight path with a plane every 5 mins.

Love Beach is a nice find if you are in Nassau and want to get away from the crowds but would like some facilities and snorkeling. It is a 30 minute drive from the port but worth the trip. There are facilities there, chairs, lots of shade, WiFi and a bar. You can snorkel there too when the seas aren't too rough and windy. We used Alfred Taylor alfredtaylor@gmail.com for transportation for the 6 of us and he was excellent.

Stayed in a rental apartment on Love Beach. The beach was never crowded and mostly felt private. There are tons of pretty shells and sea glass. The water is very calm. Great snorkeling!

Nassau Bahamas was a port stop for the cruise we were on. I read reviews to try and figure what beach to go to. We decided we would try Cable Beach. We got off the ship walked a few streets and ran into a taxi vendor, in talking with him he said he could have us taken to a better beach for $10.00 round trip. We decided to take him up on going to Love Beach. On the way we stopped for some bottles of wine and beer at a local liquor store. the ride to the beach was 20 minutes. We arrived walked through some little shack/shops which opened to this most beautiful local beach. The sand was pure white, the water was crystal clear. There is a local restaurant and bar right there. Very pretty, Great food and cheap. Besides they let us drink our own liquor, gave us new lounge chairs and floats for NOTHING> Free. Yes free. There were only about 10 other people on the beach. It was just absolutely gorgeous. We did buy food and some additional drinks there. I would highly recommend this beach if you are looking somewhere tourists do not go. Awesome

We walked to McDonald’s, which is a few blocks away from the cruise port, but found a sign in front saying it’s no longer an official bus stop. So we walked back to George St (corner of Bay St) and took the bus #10 (Jitney #10) all the way to Love Beaches. It runs along Bay St anyway and costs only $2/person. US dollars equal to Bahamian dollars, so you don’t need to exchange money. I asked the driver to drop us at Love Beaches. He said, “Don’t worry. It’s the last stop.”

It took over 30 minutes with some stops for local folks to get in or out (I think most of them work for the resorts or business stores along the route). The bus was pretty clean with AC! Beautiful scenic view as it ran along the coast.

We were dropped off in front of Nirvana Beach Bar at 10 AM. We went in and rented 2 chairs for $10. No umbrella needed. There were only 2 of us and a few folks. The waves were so strong so we did’t swim a lot. The gentleman who works there told us to just wait for a couple more hours... Then at around noon, the waves became much calmer. The water looked so nice and clear. We enjoyed swimming a lot for a few hours. More folks were arriving, and we got to know some of them came from the same cruise ship, but they had to pay a lot more for taxi.

Nirvana Beach Bar has pretty big restrooms for changing clothes and showers. All are free for their customers. Beer and food have reasonable prices ($6/Heineken is not bad at all when you can use their facilities). Our trip only cost less than $30 for 2, much cheaper than cruise excursion or taxi). We had gone to the Atlantis and paid a lot more for “day pass” 10 years ago, so this time was a better experience for us.

We took a number 10 out, and a 12A back. A dollar fifty each way. Nice beach, down a hill off West Bay. Some nice houses nearby, one overlooking the beach. Had a bar and restrooms. Plenty of parking. Watch your footing when on the beach; we saw a lot of broken glass in the sand. The buses stop right at the park entrance.
