Very nice beach, it was our first stop out of Cruz Bay Wharfside Zodiac rental. We had to tie to a mooring and swim to shore. Very good experience. Was slightly rough but manageable on the boat ride through the north shores of St John. Recomended.

We couldnāt bring our phones since we kayaked here but wow the sea turtles! Bring snorkeling gear because we saw many fish, sea turtles, star fish, sting rays, and jelly fish. We even saw an octopus! When the sea turtles go up for air you can get really close to them.

Clear, calm turquoise water, sugar white sand and curvy sea grapes, a reef with tiny tide pools on one end, pelicans feeding throughout the day, sailboats gliding on the horizon, teeming sea life (turtles, squid, sea stars, rays, countless fish species to observe), intoxicating warm water to swim in or "float" on with soft foam rafts, ahhhhhhhh! After 35 years, we have never tired of the views, both from the water and the beach. This is a seductively quiet, beach where our regular lives screech to a standstill. We devour books, play backgammon, paint, swim, snorkel, and dream. We have spent a fortune at Caneel Bay over the years, indulging ourselves in Scott Beach, our own private little paradise. It has been worth every penny. It never fails to relax and restore us. If you love the simple pleasures of serene tropical beaches, this one's for you!

This beach is a beautiful, long, wide and quiet beach. Good snorkeling at both ends of the beach! Great place to while away a day - some shade trees, if you need a respite from the sun!

Do not go to Caneel Beach. Taxi driver told us it was the best beach. As we drove in, security told us we could go to all the beaches, but not the main beach. We were then told near the main beach that we could go to Scott Beach and Paridise Beach. He said that it was adult only. Fine, we were two adults. Set up on Scott Beach. We were then thrown out by security. He told us we could only go to the main beach. We were so mad we went back to the Westin. By the way went to Mohu Beach first. There was no beach. The water went up to the road. $50.00 in Taxi fare before we finally went home to the Westin. Just go to Trunk Beach.

this is a great beach for snorkeling but difficult to get to as it is part of the closed Caneel Bay resort and only accessible by water. Best bet is a VIecotours tour.

If you aren't into snorkeling this is still a wonderful beach to relax and enjoy all the wild life. Nice chairs and shade if you want it. The beach bar also will serve lunch.

Great snorkeling! A great coral reef and I had a guide to point out the types of corals, plants and sea life. We saw turtles, rays, eel, many conch on the sea floor.

Beautiful beach that takes some work to get to⦠but itās worth it! Part of the Caneel Bay resort, we took kayaks from Cruz Bay along the north shore to this beach. Beautiful white sand and decent snorkeling. Decent coral and an abundance of fish on the right-hand side of the bay.

We stayed on Scott Beach while visiting Caneel Bay. The water is crystal clear and calm, enjoy a great view of St. Thomas while you read a good book. Peaceful, and quite.
Their are plenty of lounge chairs, the beach was not crowded at all If you want a fresh made cocktail this is the beach for you, for it is among the only one with a bar at Caneel. Wonderful beach, no stress, relax!!

Can we visit this beach if we are not guests of the Caneel Bay Resort?

You can visit, but you can't use the resort's chairs. And you have to pay to park at Caneel Bay if you are not staying there. I think it's $20 to park.
There are so many wonderful beaches on St. John that you won't miss Scott Beach at all...

When we went in November a staff member came up to greet us and we ended up having a long chat with him, he was a native to St John and had lots of great information to share. He was posted there because a couple had complained about children on Scott, he was making sure the kids stayed away from this couple. It was 2 kids having a great time with their parents, we weren't bothered in the least. The staff member told us that when it's not high season children are allowed on Scott. Hope this helps.

Do you have to be a hotel guest to go this beach?

Above information is correct. ALL beaches in the US Virgin islands are public. The only issue is land access to them. That can be private/regulated. If you're coming off a boat, just drop anchor and swim in! From land side at Caneel, you can snorkel around the point from Caneel Beach to Scott Beach if you want to explore there and your party are all adults. Just keep your beach towel etc. on Caneel Beach. Enjoy!
