The Virgin Island National Park Visitors Center is a large building in Cruz Bay, with a children's playground next door. The rangers/staff are very helpful, there are bathrooms, and as expensive as everything is in St. John, I thought the gift shop items were very tasteful and reasonably priced. You may want to consider the Reef Bay Hike, which you... More

They were very friendly and patient answering all our questions and also provided an array of options to explore St. John.

Free maps, a few nice displays on local culture and nature. Super friendly service. Nice, national-park-quality souvenirs. Definitely worth it to drop in here and chat with the people manning the desk for tips on snorkeling and sights to see.

This is definitely the first place to go when you get to St John. Everything you need to know about Virgin Islands National Park. Maps, books, exhibits, activities schedule, even souvenirs. I picked up a hikers guide that was priceless for my adventures. Every trail on the island, including length and degree of difficulty. Also a beautiful facility, right on... More

You can park at the visitors center. There are souvenirs, t-shirts, books, etc. available for purchase. You will also find free maps of St. John. The staff we talked to was very nice and knew a lot about St. John and the neighboring islands. At the visitor's center, you will also receive a parking permit (for free) if you intend... More

We were interested in a guided group hike, but unfortunately the hikes were booked way in advance, we couldn't book it. If this is something you are interested in doing, would recommend you head over to try to schedule as soon as you arrive. There weren't a lot of other options, but a few, we passed.

The visitor area provided us with a map of the park and let us know which areas were handicapped accessible. After viewing the park, we tried to eat at restaurants in the area, but there was just no parking. Locals were double parked all over the place, running stop signs, and often parked blocking traffic flow. After an hour of... More

Always talk to the ranger. They know everything. We got the low down and important information to know about our visit. They have maps, trail guides, ranger activities lists and of course stamps for your National Parks Passport!
