    A must visit
If you want a clean white beach and turquoise water without the crowds, Cinnamon Beach is the place! It is a National Park and cost a few dollars for entrance, but well worth it! It has flushing toilets with showers, picnic tables and food trucks. There is also plenty of shade if you aren’t a sun worshipper. Me and my hubby visited for snorkeling and we weren’t disappointed. A must visit if you are traveling to St. John’s or take the passenger or car ferry from St. Thomas.

Full featured "Bare" campsite in paradise
Stay on a bare campsite. There was an overhead tarp that allowed us to sleep with the rainfly off the tent without getting wet and allowed the sea breeze to give us a break from the 81 degree weather. You are on a platform and out of the sand. The campground was extreme well kept. The access to ranger programs at the raintree restaurant was just a short walk away. We were feet from the beach. It rained both nights and all three days we stayed. When you are going to be in the water anyway this isn't a big deal. Also the overcast days protected us from the sun. Bathrooms were clean and well done. You get to shower outside with complete privacy. Showers are connected to the men's and women's bathrooms. It was a great time and look forward to coming back.

Great beach to go swimming! Definitely had the best waves on the island to swim in. Beach was clean and food stand had excellent service. My husband and I snorkeled here and it was okay. Definitely other local beaches provide a better snorkeling experience. We spent two days at this beach during our week long vacation.

    Camping comforts to tempt you.
A wonderful experience for people who want to live outdoors but not with bare essentials. The Eco-Tents have beds, fans, lighting, and are high quality canvas construction with net windows. It's easy to cook outside with the stove and kitchen equipment provided. Shop in Cruz Bay for the supplies you need as the on-site store has a limited selection. The restaurant offers good food three meals a day, tempting you not to cook. The beach is AMAZING.

A bit of paradise for a 3 generation getaway
Our stay last week was delightful. We rented 2 cottages for two families. This gave us options for parents to have some alone time while grandparents played with the grandkids. The fridge was big enough for several meals and even had a small freezer for ice pops. There were glasses, mugs and washing bins inside. Outside there was a well stocked cook kit with plates, bowls, silverware, cutting board, knife, pot w/lid and various cooking tools. Washing up was at the shared comfort station (showers + restroom) and had sponge and dw liquid. But the best part was definitely snorkeling in the bay. The beach is a few minutes from the cottages and the water was clear so we saw tons of fish at both ends on the reefs. Cafe this year had many more options. Staff is friendly and helpful. Grounds are well kept. Glamping at its best in a National Park.

    Have to go here!
Spectacular beach. Very short cab ride from Cruz Bay. In fact, exited ferry, walked to North Shore Deli, loaded up on food and drink and easily found a cab to take us the approximate 3 miles to Cinnamon Bay. Clean bathrooms. Changing area. Chair rental. Absolutely amazing experience.

    One of our favorites!
Loved this beach. Didn't show up until noon after a hike and it was hard to find a shady spot b/c it was crowded but we made due and may go back during our 7 day stay. Lovely sand, lovely water and entrance to the water (no rocks, etc) and great atmosphere!

A great place to unwind, snorkel, and go with the flow!
We stayed here for 10 days the last of March in one of the cottages with husband & brother-in-law. Plenty of room in the cottage and after an adjustment without all the comforts of home it was excellent. We cooked on the grill every other night to save a bit of money. Brought a separate suitcase with food, mostly dry goods but some frozen meats wrapped in newspaper & bubble wrap( it all stayed frozen and our plane was delayed a couple hours in NY. Boiled water in am & made great coffee in our French Press we brought along. Fridge small but adequate & cooler for drinks. Had to buy ice for $7 but the way it goes. We made breakfast with eggs, oatmeal, grilled bagels, etc.. Took sandwiches for lunch in a small insulated lunch bag & went to some different beaches almost daily for snorkeling as we rented a car. Ate delicious food in on-site cafe several nights & talk on the turtles was very interesting by a Professional volunteer of the Park. The island is truly beautiful & Cinnamon Beach great. The surf very high a couple days but we went to smaller bays on those days for snorkeling. Renting a Jeep is a must. Driving on the left takes a bit of getting used to & curvy roads a little scary at first. Bathrooms clean & great. Women can use a urinal too. ( I brought a small plastic container with cover & covered with a towel to empty in BR in morning). Staff were great! We will return to this Paradise some day!

See St. John from Sea Level!
Adrian and his staff were top notch. We are a family of 2 adults and 3 young kids. We arrived a day late due to a missed flight and they did everything they could be make our stay memorable. Our oceanside cottage was great. Steps from the beach it was great to be there right at sunrise before the parking lot filled. We have been coming to STJ for over 10 years and we are planning to try out the EcoTents this year. Don't pass up a chance to see the North Shore in this special way.

The campground had a great vibe but was really overpriced (specifically the cottages). The only reason for my rating is the cost/value for what you get. PROS: good vibe, good low key people (especially when few children are there. Avoid school break weeks for quiet). The beach is gorgeous and you are steps away. The cafe serves good food and often you can split a meal with someone as the portions are large. The staff regularly cleaned the bathrooms and there were improvements being made all over the campground.
CONS: the cottages come in 3 prices levels. We chose the middle one - $245/$275 inc tax per night. For $275 a night you have no running water or bathroom and have to walk to the shared bathroom/latrine. Some cottages have a long walk to the latrines. Hope you don’t have to pee in the middle of the night. And “camp” mattresses (vinyl covered) which were not comfortable and you wake yourself up every time you turn because the bed and mattress make so much noise. None of these things are deal breakers except for how much you are paying.

For $275 a night I could have been in luxury in Costa Rica which I prefer any day over St. John.

St. John is an expensive place but not so expensive that the cottage prices made sense.

However it was an enjoyable stay. St. John’s is a pretty island with beautiful beaches and a great vibe. If it was priced more appropriately for what you get then i would have scored it higher. (honestly these cottages are not worth more than $150/night).

We loved the views here, but we came looking for the plane wreckage to snorkel. And it turns out that the wreckage is located off LITTLE cinnamon bay beach, which is a short hike through the “woods” to an inaccessible area of beach to the far west end of the beach. The water was very rough, and currents were strong. We didn’t see much underwater. If you just want to lounge and lay around, I would recommend it for that! Plenty of parking!

The waves were pretty rough the day that we visited so the sand in the water was pretty stirred up. Therefore snorkeling was impossible and that was disappointing. On the plus side there is no fee to visit this beach and parking is free too. The views are great and there is shade available along the periphery of the beach. It was not too crowded which I always enjoy. If you want big waves, this would make a good choice.

For some reason there is not a separate page for the lodging, so posting the review here.

Had a fabulous stay at the Cinnamon Bay Campground! We stayed in one of the cottages. It is definitely rustic - communal bathroom with outdoor shower, no AC or internet/wifi service in the room, and wildlife right outside the door. The cottages are not on the beach but are very close and have a separate entrance from the general public. There is also a much bigger parking lot than at Trunk Bay and Maho Bay, so we never had trouble finding a spot.

Meals are available in the Rain Tree Cafe for breakfast and dinner, and at the food truck for lunch. There is a good variety and the dinner menu changes every night. There is also a daily evening program - we got to see a local musician and a presentation on invasive lionfish. They also have laundry available at $5 each for a wash and dry.

The only cons are that it is a long walk from the cottages to the dining area and parking lot, which on the whole was fine but was annoying when we had all our luggage. It is also a bit pricey for what you get for both lodging and meals, but the location inside the park can't be beat and the food was very good.

On whole, definitely recommend it for an adventurous national park stay!

This is an incredibly picturesque beach. The water is blue, the surroundings are green, and the skies are often clear. This place can have good waves, making I very fun. You can snorkel here, but I would be careful as the current is often strong. That said, I enjoyed my trip and the beach is very beautiful. It’s not the finest beach in the Virgin Islands, but it’s up there. Definitely recommended. Also, watch out for deer. There are actually quite a few in the area and I got some videos of them.

What an amazing find! Our family of four (kids are 13 and 14) just returned from 8 days camping at Cinnamon Bay. This is hands down the best camping experience we have had. We are avid campers and have camped in the Florida keys as well as Martha's Vineyard and many more rustic areas. We had a family oceanside tent that was steps from the gorgeous Cinnamon Bay Beach! We fell asleep to the sounds of the ocean each night. The sites included linens, towel, cookware, propane, stove and a grill. The on site restaurant was very good and we especially enjoyed the breakfasts. The store has the basics and the other markets on the island could provide more food if needed. We found the staff all very pleasant and happy to share their favorite spots on the island for us to visit. We spent our days exploring beaches, snorkeling, parasailing, and fishing. The only downside was the bites we all got from the no see-ums and mosquitos but that was a small price to pay for an affordable and amazing week!

Plenty of good shady parking early in the morning. Just a short stroll to the window to paradise which started our adventure on Cinnamon on a picturesque note. We found a perfect spot for our towels and then we walked from one end to the other. It’s just incredible from every angle. We snorkeled so much and saw a huge 3 foot long turtle that had a huge fish attached to its shell. The fish eventually detached and swam off. We saw several more smaller turtles and a sting ray.
We had good pork nachos from the food truck. Next time I will rent a float from the water sports trailer.
The general store was surprisingly very nice as well. We bought nice sunscreen shirts there.
I can’t wait to go back to Cinnamon Bay.

If you enjoy hearing the sound of crashing waves and living an island adventure this is you place! Let’s be clear, although it is a campground, the eco tents are bug free, spacious and beautiful. They have fans, outlets for charging and all necessary extras for cooking/cleaning etc. The grounds are meticulously maintained and the bathrooms are comfortable and have running water. If you want to have an authentic STJ experience there is no better place! Every member of the staff was helpful and exceeded expectations.

My wife and I have been on island just over 2 weeks and have gone here two or three times. Water is always multiple shades of blue and warm. It’s a very Long Beach, which is great for walking. Looking forward to our next visit.
