I understand the concept of "island time," but sadly our car ferry left two hours after the scheduled time because of issues with two of the three car ferry companies (apparently one company had their ferry had been seized by the IRS as collateral for...More

Make sure to get there early. It was confusing at first, but we figured it out. From St Thomas to St John You'll pay the port fee to enter ferry waiting and then the ferry fare aboard. You can purchase drinks on the ferry if...More

Wow. Hard to explain the mob of people waiting for the ferry. We had a 11:15 am ferry to St Thomas and the lines were incredible. Suggestion. Buy your tickets in advance to avoid the long lines.

This ferry funs hourly until midnight from St. Thomas to St. John, and back. It is relatively inexpensive ($7 one way for non-residents), leaves on time, and comfortable inside. There are soft cushion seats in long benches and a TV showing local news for those...More

The boat was clean and the service great. Views from atop were fantastic. Price was also reasonable and they held to the schedule well. Where else can you enjoy and look forward to a taxi ride, other than here on the water.

The ferry system is reliable, fairly prices, seemingly safe, and readily accessible (trips from Red Hook to St Johns every hour on the hour).

Begin your ferry ride with Good Island Manners! Remember to begin any conversation with a proper greeting. Say, "Good Morning", " Good Day", "Good Evening" before you request your ticket(s), bag tags, etc. Otherwise, you will be considered rude. The ferry ride is quick and...More

The inter-island ferries between St. Thomas and St. John, as well as the BVI, are remarkably efficient and on time. They are very good with respect to transporting your luggage.

The ferry is great and reliable but the luggage handlers can have a really bad attitude. Here we are tourists providing their income and often all they do is scowl and look displeased to see us

It's about a 45 minute taxi ride from the airport. Note that it is $15 pp each way for the taxi, cash only. Once at the ferry terminal, you can have a porter take your bags from the taxi to the ferry so you don't...More

Yes, there are two different ferries. One thing you might consider is many of the rentals in St. John are brand new Jeeps; which are probably better vehicles for the island. We got a beat up car in St. Thomas; and... More

The ferry runs on the hour most of the day so you could manage a quick trip. it runs more frequently early am for workers during the week. Bars and shops are easy walking distance from the port in St. John.
