Back to start thomas

Acceptable travel from and to start John from St Thomas. If going to and from airport need extra time and shuttle to get across island

We decided to rent our car in St Thomas to simplify things for our trip over to St John. Ferry was on time- the one we tried to make was full so we grabbed a beer and waited until the next ferry. We were already on island time. It is a 30 minute drive to Red Hook from the airport... More

Took the ferry to St. John for a day. Drove a short distance to the dock, waited in line. We were directed to drive on the ferry. Very efficient. Nice scenic ride over to St. John. Drove off, went to visitors center to get directions. Very helpful people there volunteering. Drove around Island. Got lost on our way back to... More

This is a good way to get to St. John. If you are going to the airport though, it might be better to try to take the Charlotte Amalie ferry that puts you in town to avoid athe long ride over the mountains in St. Thomas and additional taxi and luggage charges.

We took the longer ferry from Charlotte Amalie and thought it a great way to get over to St John, but coming back the shorter, more frequent Red Hook ferry provided simple connections via taxi to the airport and would be recommended for efficiency.

This one comes and goes every hour. It is a shorter boat ride. It is worth the time to check out this beautiful less crowded island. You pay cash so bring smaller bills each way.

Took ferry from red hook ferry terminal after a day trip to st. Thomas from Tortola, BVI. Dropped back here at the end of my day tour, which saved cab fare from town to the terminal. Pretty smooth to get your tickets in Tortola, then checkin in st. Thomas to return. Boarding was easy. No hassles. Ferry was a nice... More

The ferry ride can be beautiful and getting on and off a little challenge to the nerves. Need to be patient and not let the surrounding activity distract you.

We had a long wait for the next car ferry having just missed the previous one. But what a nice view to have while we waited. The staff was very efficient loading vehicles and I was really impressed with how they worked. The ride was fun and beautiful.

Leaves every hour and is easy and affordable transport. Takes less than 15 minutes to get from STT to STJ. about a 30 min taxi from STT airport. Don't hurry as one leaves every hour and enjoy a painkiller while waiting for the next ferry. Friends took ferry that works for Westin and it took longer and cost more.
