Excellent beach!

This is a great beach! It is very calm and scenic. There are some shady areas and it is not as crowded as some of the other beaches. Go over near the rocks for the best snorkeling!

Of the main northshore beaches, this one has a more isolated feel to it. Probably the drive in on the dead-end road along with no buildings in sight on the beach. Very calm. We were visited by a family of chickens (2 parents and multiple hatchlings) who clearly get fed there by visitors regularly. Numerous turtles and rays can be... More

Very nice swimming and snorkeling. Very calm water. Beautiful sand. typical St. John. You can have the whole beach to yourself in the morning.

We have been going to St John twice a year for ten years. Francis Bay is one of our favorites. The road to get there was so difficult to travel on you didn't see many people there. However they have done the road over and it is a much easier drive. Very good snorkeling and crystal clear water.

Get there early for a nice spot in the shade. Quiet Beach. Not crowded. Not many parking spots for your vehicle.

All of the beauty of St John beaches without the crowds. Calm turquoise water, soft white sand, shaded areas, and tons of wildlife. My wife and I hiked to the beach on the Francis Bay Trail, an easy half mile path. A friendly deer actually followed us to the beach. Found a hole with a giant blue crab defending it.... More

We liked this beach so much after our last trip we came here again on this trip. This time we snorkeled with sea turtles and sting rays. It is a peaceful, quiet beach with few people. It's almost like having it to yourselves. If you are going to St. John, you should try and visit.

What a truly spectacular beach. Much off the tourist path, Francis Bay beach is a find. Head up towards the Annaberg (SP) Sugar Plantation and turn left. Go past the walking path and about 8-12 parking spots exist. Wonderful spot if you have an SUP. This is a no fishing zone and the fish know it. School of 8-12 tarpon... More

I thought Trunk was the most gorgeous STJ beach, but I'll take Francis over Trunk. The coloring isn't as nice, but there were only a few dozen people there the entire day and there's something about Francis that's very serene. Snorkeling: You can effectively "snorkel" here without even having to snorkel. First thing I'm sitting in my chair at the... More

Beautiful, clean quiet beach. We snorkeled to the right side and found sea grass and that's where we found the turtles!! Adorable to watch them mow through the sea grass. Swam through millions of blue feeder fish so thick you couldn't see the bottom...so surreal. We saw huge tarpon..like 4 feet long. Saw huge sting rays and about 10-12 smaller... More
