Beautiful Beach

Francis is probably my favorite beach, for relaxation, on that side of the island. The water is calm and clear, and it's usually not crowded.

St. John in itself is beautiful, but this part of the island in particular is spectacular and about with natural beauty. This part of the island is most frequented by locals - it's a hidden gem if you are lucky enough to stumble upon it, as we did. Ask a local how to get here, and you won't regret it.

Francis Bay is beautiful and mush less crowded than Trunk...most likely because it is further from Cruz Bay and a little more of a drive. That being said, it was beautiful and expansive. We did see a small reef shark but the snorkeling, on the day we were there, was not as good as at Trunk, Cinnamon or Waterlemon. This... More

Visited St Francis Bay for first time 8/7. Arrived around 9:45 and set up chair and cooler in a small patch of shade just to the left of the entrance to the beach. Water here was colder than other beaches we visited and ,being the wimp that I am, I squealed to myself while trying to ease in. Once the... More

This beach is long, sandy, lots of trees for shade. Comparatively quiet. No amenities so bring your food and water. Lots of sea turtles in the grassy floor just 10 yards from the beach, easy to spot them snorkeling or just standing in waist deep water!

We drive up to try a different beach and were pleasantly surprised by Francis Bay! There are no amenities but plenty of shady areas to escape the sun. The snorkeling was the best we had all week. We saw sea turtles, rays and lots of fish. Definitely worth the drive.

This is a great beach! It is very calm and scenic. There are some shady areas and it is not as crowded as some of the other beaches. Go over near the rocks for the best snorkeling!

Of the main northshore beaches, this one has a more isolated feel to it. Probably the drive in on the dead-end road along with no buildings in sight on the beach. Very calm. We were visited by a family of chickens (2 parents and multiple hatchlings) who clearly get fed there by visitors regularly. Numerous turtles and rays can be... More

Very nice swimming and snorkeling. Very calm water. Beautiful sand. typical St. John. You can have the whole beach to yourself in the morning.

We have been going to St John twice a year for ten years. Francis Bay is one of our favorites. The road to get there was so difficult to travel on you didn't see many people there. However they have done the road over and it is a much easier drive. Very good snorkeling and crystal clear water.
