This is a great place to stop for a bite to eat or do a little shopping before or after your trip to the beach. All the shops are open and it is great to support these businesses post-hurricane! There are several restaurants from which...More

Love Mongoose. So easy to walk around, find a lunch or beer spot in the shade, or browse thru the stores. Ambiance, friendliness, smiles and happy people.

We always stop here on our trips to St. John. It is a small but neat shopping area with steps that take you up and down different layers as if climbing around a tree house. There is an art gallery, shops, restaurants, the deli, a...More

Nice area to walk and shop in all the boutiques. We had lunch at North Shore and it was great. Bought some t-shirts and ball caps as souvenirs from several of the stores, but there are jewelry and boutique type stores as well. Everyone was...More

This shopping center is a real gem. Best of all, it has parking which is wonderful since there isn't much in Cruz bay. We loved this place and spent a lot of time here on way to beaches. The ice cream place was good and...More

So glad you enjoyed... we do have some great free parking monitored many hours-- if you don't see a spot in front, there is much more around back. Thanks for the positive review.

Loved the ferry ride over, even in the rain. Once there, it poured! However, there were enough shops and places to eat to enjoy our stay. If weather was better, would have visited more of the beaches here.

Depends on the season (high/low) and time of day. We go in the summer and can usually get a close spot nearby for lunch, however when we went for dinner, we had to park further out. We haven't been during high season so I'm... More

trip report (5 Replies)
What an amazing trip! Thank you to everyone who contributed to the St. John forums. I researched our trip for a year, regulary read the forums, took notes, and the result was a vacation few people dream of! This was our 15th anniversary trip, and St. John did not disappoint. I will write a more detailed report in the future but a few things to note...Every beach is like a postcard. Our favorite beach was Salomon. Best find: the Deli Grotto in Mongoose Junction. This is an upscale deli with...More

Trip Report- First Time in STJ (12 Replies)
I'm going to apologize in advance for what I am sure will be a very long trip report. Brevity is not my strength! We also just returned from our first trip to St. John and love, love, loved it! I could talk about our trip for hours! Traveling party- My husband and myself (both in late 20s), our 11 month old daughter, my mom, husband's parents and a family friend. None of us had ever been to STJ. My only experience in the Caribbean was on a cruise to Cozumel several years ago (not...More

Where can you buy fresh fish? (4 Replies)
We are regular visitors and will be there in a few days. Is there anywhere we can buy fresh fish to take back to our place? I don't think I have ever seen the fish market open near the Fish Trap. One time we saw someone selling fish on the side of the road going to Mongoose Junction. But only once. Any suggestions besides the grocery store?

I have seen gentlemen with large coolers selling fresh fish just past the dumpsters in Coral Bay on a few occasions.
