Lime Lofts, Coral Bay
Jun 2021 • Couples
We stayed with Windspree.com at the Line Lofts in Coral Bay. The apartment was clean and comfortable. Skinny Legs is right across the street from the building. They have excellent cheese burgers and a quirky setting that we love.

Relaxation, Relaxation, Relaxation

We have made six trips to Coral Bay. It's not for everyone. It's very laid back and does not have the night life found in Cruz Bay. If you are looking to be pampered, you would be better off at a resort. There are fewer restaurants, smaller markets and many animals that roam around (goats, chickens and the famous feral donkeys). The people are friendly, and you will find that it is a tight knit small town, and most of the locals know each other. We love it here!

Coral Bay is for the non tourist
May 2021 • Couples
Coral Bay is a little ways away from the happenings of Cruz Bay and it has a more familiar and hometown feel if you enjoy off the beaten path adventures. This side of the island is more local, you need a car to get here. It’s a little more run down than Cruz Bay and effects from Hurricane Irma can still be seen. However, that does not take away from its glory! Beaches here are more rocky than the sandy beaches of North Shore road. There’s plenty of dining options. Everything has a much more local and authentic feel.

Coral Bay travel at a glance
Mar 2021
Peaceful, gorgeous location. aqua bistro for the best food take out we thought. zemi had the coolest most unique jewelery on the island, and the best prices. beaches are just about as close from this side. you do need a vehicle, a jeep most likely. miss lucy's is great for a laid back meal on the water. flyaway charters leaves for private boat snorkel tours out of coral bay and was the best snorkeling we have done anywhere. we hit cruz bay about once a week for a meal, gas and extra food shopping but didn't miss the crowds of tourists at all. if you are coming to party stay in cruz bay. if you want to enjoy the natural splendor of st john and try to enjoy the local culture when you travel, coral bay will give you more of that.

Coral Bay

We went through Coral Bay several times to go to Haulover and on this last trip the locals drove like idiots and rude. They had an obvious attitude they didn’t like vacationers. Which is ok with us, we’ll never spend a dim in that area. Sad, for an island that depends so much on tourism.

Our favorite side of the island!
Nov 2020
For a more laid back and peaceful vacation, the Coral Bay side of St. John is where we always stay. Cruz Bay has some great things to do/see/eat - but for tranquillity and pure tropical paradise and views, the Coral Bay side is where we love to go.

a bit out of the way but wow
Feb 2020
Although at first it seemed a bit far we quickly got used to the drive and were so happy to be on the other quieter side of the island. It is a small community with a decent supermarket ( dolphin) which had everything we wanted. We stayed at the Traveler Palm Cottage an air B&B which was simply great and Rodger was a prince. When you approach there are a few places to stop and get a good picture ( on the opposite side of the road ) so do it carefully.
yes and BTW you really should rent a 4x4 jeep or other SUV since the internal roads are lets say rustic,

Nice pedicure, wonderful people
Feb 2020
I had my first every pedicure with Dahlia at SpaLaLa. It is a wonderful and welcoming place with very nice amenities. We live on our sailboat and my toes were beat up. Dahlia explained how a pedicure works and she would do. We just had the best time chatting and talking about living on St. John. My feet smaller and lighter when Dahlia was done. It was a great relaxing time that I would love to experience again.

Windspree Vacation Rentals
Feb 2020 • Couples
We have rented from Windspree Vacation Rentals on several occasions and have never been disappointed. Wind Ridge Villa is especially nice. Is has a patio behind the house with a hot tub that is like a hidden tropical garden, and there is a porch in the front that has over 180 degrees of view of Coral Bay and the BVI. The sunrises are spectatular. It is a well appointed house with a lot of small extras. The photos below were taken from the porch. Except for the beach photo which was taken at Maho Beach a short drive from the house.

Away from the crowds, relax and unwind.
Jan 2019
The aftermath of Irma & Maria were still visible, with lots of broken homes and rubble. With a rental car it's easy to reach, so quiet and peaceful. Very scenic drives, and some good restaurants as well. Be sure to support the locals! Lovely views after evey turn.
