I recently went to Sapphire Beach and rented a Kayak from the only establishment available in that beach - Dive In-and was charged $20 for the rental, which I thought was fair. However, the owner was quick to blame my sons for scratching his kayak because the waves pushed them into the reef and it took them a couple of minutes to get out of the area. He charged us $50 because "they damaged his kayak." If anyone has been swimming in that beach they will quickly realize that allthough the scenery is beautiful, within a couple of feet the entire beach is very rocky and you can barely stand on it. He showed me the Kayak and of course the bottom is all scratched, but so were all the other kayaks including the one I used with my daughter. I quickly pointed such facts to the owner but he refused to accept and instead charged my account the extra $50. Of course within minutes he was renting "the damaged kayak" my sons used to the next customer. I write this comment just to alert the public as to the possible strategy the owner is using to take advantage of the tourist.…
