never saw so many jewelry shops in one spot. but if you turn off into the various alleys, there are lots of treasures to find. art shops, boutiques, galleries, restaurants, bars. we got some gifts and souvenirs by local artist for a very reasonable prices. beware when you are actually on main street of the hawkers trying to sell you... Throwing hurricane season concerns to the wind, we scheduled a birthday-vacation trip back to St. Thomas to relax and enjoy island time life and culture. It helps that every purchase we made is net of sales taxes. We enjoy spending a day wandering down the main street looking at the variety of eye catching baubles and trinkets available. From the... We enjoyed strolling down the street and checking out the many stores. I purchased a beautiful dress at the outside market.

Each shop had its own vulture stationed in the doorway waiting for prey. You can't walk down the street without being accosted by these people. And the shops are the same ones that are in the port area. It was smelly and hot and I was miserable. We ducked down an alley, lunched at Greengo's which was great! Then got... More

If you're visiting Main Street, chances are you're in a taxi or a safari cab and you'll be dropped around the post office. Most tourists walk 2 or 3 blocks and then turn around to head back to the ship. If you have the perseverance, at least get as far as Palm Passage. It's a neat little enclave of shops... More

OK...so this place is where the majority of St. Thomas shopping magic happens. It is lined with shops (primarily jewelry) and restaurants. Most of the local stuff is down the side streets. However, you have to be strong on your "no" game because they have people standing outside all the shops promising you great deals, discounts, specials "just for you"... More

We like going to Charlotte Amalie one day just to walk around and see the shops. Yes, some can be pushy but you can just keep walking if you do not feel like going in. All in all fun for a day out after to much sun.

Main Street in Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas was a very nice day trip. There were many high end stores and uncountable jewelry stores. But there was also the kiosks where you can find many affordable items. All the vendors were very pleasant and respectful.

Whatever you want you can find it on Main Street. There's plenty of stores for all of your needs but if you want jewelry go to Grand Jewelers first.
