St Thomas has a lot of fun things to do when venturing away from the island. My first time to the caribbean was to this area, and I wasn't prepared for what we were about to see. Love this place & the fun it brings out in you.

considering the Pirate Blackbeard never set foot here should be enough info but... tourists who never bothered looking up the history of St.Thomas just would not know any better. It is entertaining what they tell you, even though it's "sailor talk" at best. Don't bother booking a tour and paying good money to see the tower, that's all it is,... More

Fun way to spend an hour or so. They tell a good story and play the part! The grounds are wonderfuf as is the view from the castle. Lots of info and history about the homes on the land.

Walked up to this site with my family instead of booking it through the cruse and paying a lot more. The hike was not bad and saved a good bit of money. The tour itself is largely self guided with a few staff positioned as you go along to give you a short oral intro. The top of the castle... More

Nothing extravagant about the Castle (it's actually just an old watchtower overlooking the harbor). Climb the circular staircase and get a wonderful vista from the top. Visit the museum and learn about the pirate lore. (If you are lucky you'll get to see one of the "local" pirates bring the stories to life. DO NOT take the cruise ship tour;... More

The tour from our cruise ship was expensive and didn't give you more than a ride over. Take a cab - they will get you one on the dock right after you disembark and let the tour guides at the castle so the rest. The cost is minimal and it provides hours of fun and interesting information. We asked for... More

Worth viewing though there is a road beside the used to be cannons. Takes you back to the good old days.

Our first day in St. Thomas, we explored downtown Charlotte Amalie, then took the 99+ steps up to the Castle and joined the self-guided tour. Wow, the views up there are amazing! Really enjoyed meeting Blackbeard (though apparently other pirates, but not he, actually visited the island), and hearing about the history of St. Thomas as we wended our way... More

Our family of 5 (including children, 12, 10 and 6 years) walked up the 99 steps to the Tower and were pleasantly surprised by the experience on offer. The entry fee was only charged for the 2 adults, the children being free, and it covered not only the Tower but also a series of other buildings visited after the Tower... More

Upon purchasing our tickets, we were greeted by a performing artist dressed as a pirate giving a rendition of the death of Blackbeard the pirate. After the 10 minute performance we went up to blackbeards castle for a good vantage point over charlotte Amalie. Follow the self guided tour through two houses below blackbeards lookout to get back to downtown.... More
