This is one of the closest beaches to downtown Charlotte Amalie. On a Saturday afternoon, it appeared most of the town was here! Cars were parked along both sides of Route 30 as we drove past on our way to Mermaids Chair. It was still crowded on our return, so we didn’t stop. However, I got a peek of Brewers calm , protected waters and long sandy beach as our plane headed down the runway for takeoff (hint: sit on plane’s left side). There are prettier beaches on the island, but this might be a convenient alternative depending on your schedule and hotel location. And if you don’t spot a turtle, you are sure to see a plane or two. And yes, the airport runway extends into the water!

We visited 7 of the 10 major beaches on the island and kept coming back to this one. It offers calm waters in a well protected bay with clear waters. Pros: Not too busy, wide beach, shells, snorkeling (turtles and fish are here), toilet facilities, food trucks open along road, family friendly Cons: Literally across from airport so you see and hear all the airplanes coming and going, no shower facilities, parking along the street

Spent some time trying to find best snorkeling beach on St Thomas and this is the one! We saw turtles almost every 100 feet snorkeling. Big and small. It was fun to watch them eating sea grass and came up for air. The street side parking is pretty easy. The beach is also pretty sizable compared to smaller ones but the view is not as good as the ones on North side however we would say this is the best place for snorkeling on St. Thomas, especially when there was wind and muddy water on North side. This South side beach has calm water and great to swim or snorkel. It is also a mixture of locals and tourists and police will come to make sure the beach is closed at 4PM

Lots of turtles in this bay, bring your snorkel stuff. Beach is covered in tiny, beautiful sea shells to collect.

Fantastic clear water, guaranteed turtle sighting, as well as some tiny brilliant blue fish and larger angels and others. If you plan to be in the water, this is a wonderful destination. Not crowded at all, and restroom facilities available, food truck on the street. We did a bit of beach clean-up as it was sad to see so many rusty bottle caps, glass bottles, styrofoam. Also pestered by a man clearly high and mumble-begging for money. We were not intimidated, but it didn't feel like a place to go sit on the beach, both for the litter and for the folks.
