My wife and I chartered with Captain Wes two weeks ago. It was awesome. We sailed for hours on his 53 foot yacht, through all the famous coves and beaches of St. John. The boat is so fast, we also spent time in the British Virgins. Both boat and captain have a very successful racing past. This is no putt-putt boat but a beautiful Ketch. Captain Wes has even captained America's Cup type boats. He knows how to sail at a level few can match, emphasizes safety first, and is very personable (along with his crew) to match. Food was terrific, I would hope for nothing else in a charter. Highly, highly recomended if you are looking for the absolute highlight of your Virgin Island trip.

We went out yesterday with our grown children and their 6 month old daughter and had a blast. The weather was beautiful in both ways. It was sunny with a nice crisp breeze outboubd, and the ship tackled the waves effortlessly. Captain Wes is knowledgeable having grown up and sailed in these waters with his father before him. Just a happy guy who loves what he does. The food was great as was the crew, and instead of taking another snorkel trip as is customary after lunch, he honored our request to sail "on the outside" instead. The wind was brisk , squall came through and the waves were choppy, just what we hoped for! What a thrill. Wess will truly try to give you the experience that you want and tailor your trip to your preferences, so I couldn't recommend him more. You can learn to sail, brush up, learn some advanced skills, or just do nothing at all. We will certainly miss the original Nightwind, but Nightwind II is a Phoenix gloriously risen again. Nothing compares to her.

For nearly 40 years we had sailed on the Nightwind, our last one being February, 2017. We were saddened to learn that Hurricane Irma had destroyed the boat while in dry dock that September. But we were pleased to hear that another boat had been purchased and would be renovated. It took a while, but today we were pleased and privileged to sail on the Nightwind II’s inaugural cruise. Owner and Captain Wesley O’Dell, along with co-Captain and former owner of Nightwind, Rick O’Dell, took us along familiar paths. We sailed to Francis Bay on St. John, had a wonderful lunch, and then sailed our way slowly back to Sapphire Marina. The thrill is back! For all those who sailed the Nightwind before, Nightwind II is three feet longer and about 12-18 inches wider at the beam. It sails beautifully, as you can see by the photos. Come on down and enjoy your sail again! We will be back.

Easy access, met us at the dock, great crew, good stories all around, got to sail the vessel, excellent snorkeling, good lunch provided. Away from the crowds, out flying in the wind, watching the sails billow out and the sun washing over the water, like a thousand diamonds. Worth every nickel.
