Danish influence on the island can be seen. It is a common port of call for cruise ships. You can walk around, enjoy the scenery and take a helicopter tour (unsure if still available).

This is an incredible place. A number of bars and restaurants with a handful of dive shops and boutiques. Over all a very peasant place. We stayed near by at Cottages by the Sea and visited here every day for something or another. Great little...More

The pier area is beautiful and a good fishing site - this side of the island by far has the best beaches and snorkeling (excepting Buck Island). The town itself still has a number of shops and good places to eat (Polly's, Lost Dog, etc.)...More

If you can't get enough of Christiansted, head over to Frederiksted! Their beaches are far superior, and the lush rainforest side of the island gives it that true tropical feel.

Enjoyed the local art show and had wonderful conversation at cane Bay dive shop. Other stores appeared to only be open for cruise ship stops.

So Christensted is the tourist side with lots going on and the waters can be rough and snorkel/dive boats crowded. Fredriksted is the west side where the water is calm, the reefs start 30 feet off the beach with 7 to 10 miles of secluded...More

No. We were not in Frederiksted on a Friday. It sounds like it would be worth going to.
